Letters June 2004 continued

To the Editor:
Good morning!  We have emailed each other before.  Would you know the dates of this year's Grimm Open House?  If you recall, I am a descendant.  Wende-lin was my great-great-great-great grand-father.  My sister and I are still trying to obtain books and copies of pictures of my grandparents like those in your online photos in Sue's Album, for my own house.
Also, I would be interested if you could put me in touch with Clarence and Dorothy Kelzer so that I could put more of my genealogy of the Grimm family to-gether.  I have the family tree figured out back to Wendelin and would like to know how the Kelzer's fit in.  My email address is dmpfusco@aol.com.  Thanks for your help.  My sister and I hope to see you this fall at the farmhouse.
For starters, my grandfather Alfred Swen Pehrson was married to Edith Grimm.  Both lived in Winthrop, MN, where my grandfather owned a monument business with his cousin, last name of Bjork.  Edith's mother was Katherine Grimm, my great-great grandmother.
I live in New Hampshire, and my mother and sister live in Omaha.

To the Editor:
We enjoyed Mike Wartman's article about cold cuts, and it brought to mind the days when we really worked at economiz-ing our food budget feeding all those Corcorans.
The commissary deli packaged the ends of their cold cuts, which we could purchase for 39 cents a pound.  I always picked up whatever they had on hand and would bring them home to separate.
The roast beef, turkey, hard salami always went first, then came braun-schweiger, pickle loaf (one of those "loaf things), etc.  The kids named some of the other things we couldn't even name -- reptile meat, monster meat -- pretty awful stuff.
I turned creative, however, and chopped up all the unnamed chunks, added barbecue sauce and heated it to serve in buns.  Not bad, and they didn't know the difference.  We don't pick up "ends" anymore.

To the Editor:
I am getting along just fine with my new knee.  I want to thank all those who prayed for me, and the good advice was so helpful.

To the Editor:
Help us break ground for Victoria Elementary School and Chaska High School Addition.  Work will begin soon on our newest elementary school, located in Victoria, and the much needed addition to Chaska High School.  Please honor us with your presence at our Groundbreaking Ceremony on Thursday, June 3rd, 2004.  If you can join us, please contact Nancy Kracke, Community Relations Director at School District #112.
If you will be attending both ceremo-nies, we'd like to invite you to ride with us.  Parking at the elementary school site is very limited.  Just drive to the District Office, leave your car in the lot, and hop on board the school bus with us.  The bus will take us first to Victoria and then the Chaska High School before returning to the District Office lot.
If you would like to ride the bus, please RSVP to Nancy Kracke.  We'll reserve a seat for you.  The bus will leave at 4:40 p.m. from the DEC parking lot, 11 Peavey Road, Chaska.

To the Editor:
Hi, Sue.  Please pass on my great thanks to Tom Gray at City Offices for coordinating and gathering all the shirts, hats, patches, and other things from Carver County fire departments which are being donated to the Vitina Fire Depart-ment over here in Kosovo.
A special thanks to Sherrie Jones, too, for her help.
And, of course, a big thanks to the Fire Departments of Victoria, Watertown, Hamburg, and Chaska for their donations.  Those that give so much continue to give to others.  Bless you all.

To the Editor:
Hi.  I am moving to Minnesota from Colorado next month.  I was just looking at your newspaper online, and I'm won-dering if you might be able to direct me to a place that I could search rental proper-ties.  Please let me know if you have any-thing.  Thank you.
