MORE VICTORIA NEWS FROM JUNE
GOOD MEETING WITH SCHOOL DISTRICT 112

*"Said Jim, "We had a good meeting with District 112 a couple days ago.  We put forward a number for them to rent the existing ice.  It was a significant number.  Second, we offered them a pad to build a larger ice facility adjacent to us.  The city would lease them the land long term.  My sense is that we bring certainty to the School District, certainty of execution.  We have a site that is graded and has utilities.  But we don't have a deal.  I think we had a very cordial upbeat con-versation.  Our goal is to relieve our debt service.

*Said Tim about a recent city deci-sion, "I'm not comfortable with taking a fire truck into a neighborhood for a party.  It's not the same as a parade.  There's a liability.  There's a better use of equip-ment."
*Said Dave Urbia about summer ice at the Field House, "The booking isn't where it should be.  No, it's not a good situation.  No, we won't break even."
*Said Jim, "We're trying to hire a director."  Said Kim, "I'm not!"
*Said Cara, "That lift station is fre-quently backing up.  At a minimum, a pump should be replaced so people can flush their toilet.  Council accepted the low bid of $142,817 from Sunblad Con-struction for improvements to the sanitary lift station at Zumbra Ridge, using a new subcontractor, Instrument Control Sys-tems, for integrating the lift station control system with the control system at the new water treatment plant.
*Said Holly, "It's another tool of en-forcement."  In that regard Council adopt-ed an ordinance amendment that limits to four the number of vehicles that can be parked or stored outdoors on private prop-erty.  A Homeowners Association, if more restrictive, is the enforcing covenant.
*Bryan Cermak of Victoria will be building and installing 20 bluebird houses to fulfill his Eagle Scout requirements, at Diethelm Park with a city contribution of $100.
*Council accepted the proposal from Carl Brown Consulting to perform the utility rate study for an amount not to ex-ceed $9,300.  The last utility rate study was done in 2002.
