To the Editor: Just wanted to thank you for the article in the Gazette on Mom and Dad's 60th Anniversary. It could not have been written better or more beautiful. Also, thanks for getting the notice in the news-papers here. Love, Nancy Ghent, Minnesota
To the Editor: I have been a subscriber and avid reader of your Gazette for nearly 18 years and also a loyal contributor, volunteer, and office holder for the Minnesota Land-scape Arboretum and the ARB Auxiliary. The enclosed press release concerns the upcoming Garden Tour sponsored by the Auxiliary. Also, would it be possible to have a column about the Arboretum or the Auxiliary every month in the Gazette? Our Auxiliary president is a Victoria resi-dent. This column would support the Arboretum and also be a service to the community that may not know about all the Arboretum has to offer. It is in Vic-toria's backyard! If this sounds like something you would like to add to your paper, please contact me. I appreciate your consideration of this matter and wait to hear from you. Evelyn Grimm Carver, Minnesota
EDITOR'S NOTE: I consider your request a compliment but advertising is the way to go.
To the Editor: Mark Twain once said if we do not read the newspapers, we are uninformed. If we do read the newspapers, we are misinformed. We thank the Lord and you, Sue, for making that statement an untruth in our times. Blessings. By the way, notice our change of address. Thanks. Howard Wigfield Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Are you enjoying this wonderful "warm" weather? Too bad we can't store some for later. I do prefer summer over winter. Can't stand the cold weather. Happy Fourth of July to all! The fishhook was found on page 11 on the "S" of the KleinBank ad. You cer-tainly have a way of hiding the hooks. You also have a big job opening all your mail. So long for now. Mrs. (Frank) Ethel Schneider Shakopee, Minnesota
To the Editor: Happy July 4th. Pull those cold burnt hotdogs off the grill, shove a firecracker in, and let it blow. Boom! Or instead of hotdogs, use those green apples on the tree that never turn red and stay as sour as vinegar. Kaboom! What fun that was. I blew off a few firecrackers. Never was hurt. We would even put them in the wash-line pole on the top bar where a wasp had built its next. It took care of the nest and also its tenants. When Ma went out to visit her granny pals or went picking strawberries, there was mischief in the backyard. Whoo-hoo! No matter how many firecrackers I blew off, I still have all ten fingers and every-thing else. I never got into any big time fire-crackers. No Roman candles either. Years ago there was a product called Whipper Snappers, sold around the 4th of July for 50-cents a box. Toss them on concrete, they pop. Put them under Ma's car tires, pop-pop! She thought she had flat tires. I saw the fishhook on page 11 in the KleinBank ad. (Guess whose birthday is July 24th.) Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: I just returned from the Victoria Field House. John Thomas, former Roosevelt High School Basketball Star, Minnesota Gophers Team Captain, Timberwolves Star, and now NBA Free Agent, also local resident of Victoria, and his wife Maryse, along with Mike James, former Timber-wolves Guard and new Houston Rocket Guard, put on a "Free" Basketball Clinic, something quite unheard of in this day and age. KleinBank and Snap Fitness also helped sponsor the four-day camp. It was absolutely wonderful to see upwards of 130 young people, ages 8 to 18, partici-pate in and enjoy such a great educational activity right here in Victoria. A very special thanks to Mike James, John and Maryse Thomas, and all the young high school players who worked as "counselors" to put on the camp. A very special thanks goes to Troy Snell from Roulette Pizza in Victoria. Troy stepped in and fed all those kids when a previous arrangement with a local vendor fell through. I hope all those kids enjoyed Troy's generosity, that they tell their parents, and that we all make sure his support of our neighborhoods and families does not go unrewarded. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he was still being thanked months from now by cus-tomers walking in to Roulette's and buy-ing his pizzas? Thanks to all and a special thanks to Troy at Roulette Pizza.
