To the Editor: Nice article about Steve Sarvi in your June Gazette. His dad and I belong to the same stamp club. Ron Holtmeier, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I just read your recap of the city council meeting where Norie Hennen and her husband addressed the council. I read your reference to me as the "new" build-ing official. I think that did help to separate the old contract inspectors from your current building official, i.e., me. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Tom Gray, Victoria Building Official, via e-mail
To the Editor: Could you put a note in your next edition of the Gazette about the new web site for the City of Victoria? It's www.ci.victoria.mn.us. We have added some interactive features such as an online poll and Community Bulletin Board. I have partnered with the city to create the web site as well as assist in the maintenance of the site. Please e-mail or call me if you have any questions. Thanks. Eric Schmid, President, Bufflehead Web Design, via e-mail
To the Editor: Thanks for sending the Gazette to Texas and Chaska as we move back and forth. Love to see last month's fishhook in this month's paper. It helps a lot. It's also getting harder to find the fishhook. Keep sending the paper. It's the best in the country. Love ya. Audrey and Al Tholen, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Sincere thanks for the $10 given as a prize in your Find the Fishhook Contest. It was also such fun to receive the walleye T-shirt from Terri and John Hertensteiner at Walleye Central right here in Victoria. The T-shirt is cleverly designed with a nice big walleye caught on a hook and line, so clever in fact that I have already lost it to my husband's annual Canadian fishing trip. It was nice seeing it go through our house though. Thanks for the money, shirt, and fun. Yours for bigger and better fish, Jan Olinger, Advanced Medical Electrocologist, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: This is in response to last month's letter to the editor that was opposing the orphanage coming to Victoria. How can this person say that petty theft and vandal-ism will increase? These are children, not felons. Whatever happened to being presumed innocent before proven guilty? And what does having to pay over $6,000 per year in taxes have to do with the orphanage? If we say no to helping these children, then we should also say no to the Red Cross, the Mission funds, and any other relief that goes to help children in need. Victoria has always been there to help thy neighbor and we shouldn't let poor judgment decide this issue. Remember, it's not the children's fault that they are "orphans." Bob Jesberg, Chaska, Minnesota, via e-mail
To the Editor: Thank you much for the ten bucks from the May fishhook drawing. Also, thanks to Walleye Central for the T-shirt. Very nice! Since you were wondering about it, our address is where Victoria and Shorewood meet on Smithtown Road. We have been receiving the Gazertte for many years and really enjoy it. Thank you. Karen Carsik, Shorewood, Minnesota
To the Editor: In his new book, The Yogi Book -- subtitled I Really Didn't Say Everything I Said!? - baseball great Yogi Berra remembers some of his more famous slips and quips: "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore." "Why buy good luggage? You only use it when you travel." "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." "Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours." "Never answer an anonymous letter." "Ninety percent of the game is half mental." I'd like to say I empathize with Yogi. I, too, really didn't say everything I said. Germaine Jesberg, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I found your fishhook in the lovely pristine picture of the little boy fishing on page 17. Reminds me of my younger days. Did enjoy fishing and still do. If I win your Fishhook Contest I'll give it to a good cause. Marcy Jaspers, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you to my family and Father Conran for their care and to all for their prayers, cards, flowers, gifts, and food sent during my recent recovery from surgery. God bless you all. Evelyn Schneider, Chaska, Minnesota
