To the Editor: I am a student from Germany and try to enter the Guinness Book of World Records with the world's biggest collec-tion of media related promotional articles such as pens, T-shirts (XL please), caps, key-rings, decals, plate frames, anything that bears your name and that you are willing to commit. Let me thank you in advance for any kind contribution. Peter Hakenberg Frankfurt, Germany
To the Editor: Merry Christmas and may God bless the Gazette family and friends with a Happy New Year too. January 9th, 2007, will be one year since my husband Frank passed away, so this is our first Christmas without him. Hope he is enjoying Christ-mas in heaven. Mrs. Frank Schneider Shakopee, Minnesota
To the Editor: I would like to thank the residents of Victoria for the confidence they have placed in me over the past ten years, first as a councilmember and then as mayor. I enjoyed serving in city government and have learned much in the process. How else would I know about water treatment plants, road reconstruction, and many other topics of burning interest to every resident! Many changes have occurred during my tenure on the council. Our population has doubled. Many new housing develop-ments, a Catholic high school, an elemen-tary school, and a field house have all been built. Our goals in all this were not to change the character of Victoria, and to have new growth pay for itself. The three accomplishments I'm most proud of during my tenure as mayor are: 1) Downtown redevelopment. The city spurred development interest down-town by reconstructing the infrastructure to make it more functional and attractive. The Hartman, Kidtalk and Notermann buildings, as well as the Wensmann condos, have been built since then. In-terest by developers continues downtown, with three proposals currently under con-sideration. New businesses are being add-ed to downtown every year. 2) Improving our bond rating from A3 to A1. Through responsible financial management, our bond rating has im-proved two steps. This lowers our interest costs on any future bond offerings. 3) Road reconstruction. This is not popular or glamorous, but it is something we had to start. Every road in Victoria will have a bituminous surface and be built to last for 25 years, within five years. After ten years of council meetings, I suspect I'll feel at a loss on the second and fourth Thursdays for a while. I want to wish the new mayor and council success as they continue to move Victoria forward. Jerry Bohn, Outgoing Mayor Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor: I want to again thank you for your help with my genealogy work. I really appreciate it. I want to ask you something. I am still trying to find more information on the Frank and Magdalena Schmidt family. I am missing data like the full names of their children, birthdates and place of birth for each, marriage dates and name of spouse, death dates. Of course I would like the names of the grandchildren of Frank and Magdalena too. Would there be any point in me placing an advertisement in the Victoria Gazette? The ad would ask that anyone who knows anything get in touch with me. What kind of resources are there in the Victoria Library? Would there be any records there that I could access? What about the Church records? Jim Stangel Saskatchewan, Canada
