To the Editor:
Hi, Sue.  Hope you had a Merry Christmas.  Just finished my column and will email it to you shortly.  Still can't believe the reaction to your article about Deer Run in the December issue of the Gazette.  Wow!  You really have an impact on this whole area.  A lot of people outside of Victoria read the Gazette.  The article was well written and really cap-tured the unique atmosphere of the Deer Run Golf Club.  Happy New Year.

Here's a "politically correct" way to say Happy New Year …
"Please accept with no obligation
- implied or implicit - our best wishes for a multicultural, socially responsible, gender neutral, environmentally conscious, secular celebration of the winter solstice holiday, with respect for your religious/
secular persuasion and traditions, or your choice not to practice religious traditions at all …
"We also wish you a fiscally success-ful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calen-dars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great …
"Not to imply that America is neces-sarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemi-sphere …
"This wish is given without regard to race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wishee …
"By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms.  This greeting may be subject to clarification or withdrawal and is not transferable.  It implies no promise by the wisher to actually imple-ment any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, implies no warrantees of any kind, is void where prohibited by law or wherever it may cause any person to be uncomfortable in any way."

I'm writing to see if you'd be inter-ested in having a regular submission from the staff at Gale Woods Farm in Minne-trista.  The farm was donated to Three Rivers Park District a couple of years ago by the Gale family.  It is a working educa-tional farm that hosts thousands of child-ren and families year round.
The staff could offer great gardening tips from planting to harvesting, and some healthy recipes.  In the summer, students actually do the farming at Gale Woods and they put together a newsletter each week.  I've pasted a link below to a web page that has some newsletters to give you an idea of the fun information Gale Woods Farm could provide.
Thank you very much for your con-sideration, and Happy New Year.

To the Editor:
This morning (December 28th, 2005) about 1:30 a.m. our motion sensor light came on.  This is not unusual as we al-ways have rabbits, opossum, or raccoons visiting us.
We have about ten inches of snow in our backyard and, as I looked out, here was a very fat cat walking on our side-walk towards our back door.  As I con-tinued watching, the cat was listening for something.  Then he jumped up in the air and pounced on a mouse that was in the snow.  It caught the mouse and ate it on the sidewalk.  When done, the cat headed towards our garage and pounced on the snow again but did not catch the mouse.
The cat was very lovely with orange and white markings, very pretty.  It could have been someone's pet.

Thanks so much for the fine tribute given to Father Elstan in the December issue of the Gazette.  He's been a gift to all of us.  Continued blessings on you and yours in the New Year.
