More January 2002 Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
Hope your laryngitis is all better now.  The Christmas Gazette was just great.  Ah, the powers of the pen.  Remember my "Attorney Alert" column?  Our attorney, who takes the Gazette, read the column, reduced his bill by $27, and apologized to our Board.  The picture that you used with my column, of the pig with the briefcase (and even a cigarette!), was perfect.
Love,
Lee Clark, the Pigster, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
May God bless you for all the great work you do with the Gazette.  Have a happy holiday season and many blessings in the New Year.
Love,
Dorothy Kelzer, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:
The Victoria and Cologne Lions have donated funds to Ridgeview Foundation for the purchase of a Co-Stat breath analyzer for Ridge-view Medical Center.  The equipment is a non-invasive, rapid, passive, and accurate method for testing newborns for jaundice, avoiding heel pricks, and lab tests.
From left, Colleen Gerlach, obstetrics-nursery manager, receives a check for $3,250 from Ed Hjermstad, the Victoria Lions Club President, and, at right, Tom Schmitz, President of the Cologne Lions Club, presents a $3,000 check to Jane Shanard, Ridgeview Foundation.
Lions Clubs previously donated an infant hearing monitor to Ridgeview Foundation and Ridgeview Medical Center.

To the Editor:
Hey, Sue, hope your holiday went well and you are healthy and "caught up."  (Is there such a thing?)  Anyway, Pastor Maureen Bonner passed on your e-mail to me.  Looking forward to seeing your photos from the Ecumenical Service.  I really enjoyed it and so did everyone else I spoke with.  We should do that more often.

To the Editor:

The Carver County American Red Cross was called to the scene of a midmorning fire in northeast Chaska on Saturday.  The house was located at 713 Brandenburg Drive.  The fire caused extensive damage to the house and destroyed the family's garage and automobiles.  In conversations with the residents, they were impressed by the care taken by the Chaska Fire Department to preserve what could be saved from water and smoke damage.  Thanks, Chaska Fire, for a special job.  The Red Cross attended to the immediate needs of the family.
The American Red Cross is dedicated to saving lives, easing suffering, and restoring hope at home and around the world.  The Carver County Red Cross has a trained volunteer staff that responds to local emergencies when they occur.  They work closely with the Emergency Management and local Law Enforcement people to insure that our residents are provided for in the event of a local emergency or personal crisis.
Through the National American Red Cross, they also provide a local contact point for communication with family members serving our country in the Armed Services around the world.  The American Red Cross disaster relief is provided at no charge and is made possible by donations of your friends and neighbors.  If you would like to assist the Red Cross, please call the Carver County Chapter in Norwood Young America at 952-467-4449.

To the Editor:

Hi.  I receive the Victoria Gazette com-pliments of Helen Hughes.  I enjoyed seeing Father Elstan's and Jesse's picture in your November paper.  Please e-mail me Father Elstan's e-mail address if he has one.  I am a faithful friend of his and devoted reader of the Gazette.
And what a jewel I found when I tried your website.  Father Elstan is an ol' dear friend of my family.  In fact, one of my sons, Sam, was here when we tried your website and e-mail.  This is like finding a Christmas present that got left on the tree.
Yes, my name is Mama Lou.  That name was given to be by a salesman because I had six children.  But now I have 17 grand-children and working on #11 in great grand-children.  I love them all.
Helen Hughes subscribes to the Victoria Gazette and passes them on to me.  My Christmas company cleared out today and I caught up on my reading.  Happy 2002.  I'll be in touch.
