The Last Farewell
by Jesse Coghill Jordan, Minnesota
Farewell, farewell, old friend of mine; The end is drawing nigh. I'll miss you so, you'll never know, But still I will not cry.
Through the years, the joys, the tears, We've built a solid life And traveled down that rocky road Together, man and wife.
But now they say you cannot stay And I must be alone To await the time when you'll be mine In our celestial home.
I watch you slowly drift away As you lie there on your cot. "Non Dormit Que Custodit" -- The guardian sleepeth not.
Voices Are Calling, Jesse's book of poetry, is available for $15 (plus $3 postage and handling) from Prints Publishing, Box 387, Victoria, MN 55386 -- or ask for it at bookstores.
