To the Editor: Well, it is now the year 2000 and the world survived. I trust you will have some use still for the tons of food, water, toilet paper and ammunition that you presumably stockpiled during the year. Just a quick note from one of Victoria's prodigal sons, now encamped in Germany. I was glad to hear that some lucky winner from A Taste of Bavaria is heading out this way, though sorry it wasn't a Wartman or at least a Schneider. I was hoping to draft a few pieces for the Gazette now that we are in Europe, but so far there has been no time, especially with our little Maggie's accident. We would like to thank everyone back home for their thoughts and prayers for her recovery. Recover she has! In fact, she seems to have more energy now than before. Earlier this fall I did get a chance to do some traveling and discovered a Victoria Hotel in Warsaw and a Victoria Bar and Casino in Bucharest. Maybe I'll devote more time to this search and perhaps even publish a book, "Portraits of Victoria." Pat Wartman, Frankfurt, Germany wartz_ge@yahoo.com
To the Editor Online: Hi, Sue. Really enjoyed your MS e-mail. Sent it on to many I know will enjoy it too. This little magic box is always so much fun. Hope you enjoy Calvin and Hobbes. Really made me giggle. Your Christmas concert was the BEST, as always. Jamie and our choir are tops. Good seeing you again. By the way, Jenny's "Hark the Harold Angels Sing" cartoon was so cute in the Gazette. I told Chuck it must be just for him. His real name is Harold, you know. Anyway, I shall refer to it when convenient. Pat Leonard, Eden Prairie, Minnesota cleonard@minnmicro.com
To the Editor Online: We have a baby girl. She is healthy and weighed 2.910 kilos. All is well and Happy Holidays. Tim, Ana, and Mafalda Koehnen, Via Real, Portugal tkoehnen@utad.pt.
To the Editor Online: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Dear Sue, the biggest snowman on page 44 has eaten the fishhook! Father Ferdinand, Hasselt, Belgium jennenferdinand@hotmail.com
To the Editor Online: I really liked the article, "Christmas Past and Present," by Mike Wartman, but, as an editor, you should have remembered that my dad spelled his name Erwin and that Mr. Thiede spelled his as Karl. You are hereby ordered to receive 14 lashes with a wet noodle. Uncle Ron Holtmeier, Victoria, Minnesota uncleron@usinternet.com
To the Editor Online: Hello up there. How is it going? I hope fine. I'm very good down here. Anyway, Sue, do you remember Florian from Austria? Well, I have written him but he doesn't answer. Maybe he changed his e-mail address. Today I went to a mall with my girl friend. We were looking at the toy stores and clothes. It was fun. I think I'm gonna give her a Teddy bear. (I think that's the way you say it - those soft toys, like bears or lions or Mickeys. You know those things.) Right now I'm interpretating those poems of Shakespeare. It's really difficult, especially for me because they are in English. And also Robert Frost and Walt Whitman. We are also studying economics in English. It's kind of long and many words I don't understand but I look in the dictionary. I'm doing okay. My grade in this subject is 8.4 over 10. Sue, can you ask Jenny if she can send me the address of Dennis, the guy from Brazil cause I don't have it. Also Renata's address if she has it. She is a girl from Brazil who was at my school in Chaska. I guess that's all. Say hi to every-one over there like Germaine and the Victoria House and also Father Elstan and Father Bob. I guess you might have lots of snow by now. Take care, Sue, and don't forget me. Xavier Alvarado, Cuenca, Ecuador xavicho10@hotmail.com WANNA READ MORE ONLINE LETTERS? CLICK HERE.
