To the Editor:
Hi, Sue.  Thank you a million times over for putting Dorrie's 70th birthday announcement in the January issue of the Gazette.  Is there any way I could get extra copies of the paper?  Please let me know how much it would cost and I will get it sent out ASAP.  I appreciate it so much.  I am going to use the Gazette announcement in a display.
Although Dorrie didn't want to admit it, she loved the announcement in the Gazette.  I know because she had the picture on her fridge.  Thanks again, and I hope that your mother had a wonderful birthday also.  Thanks for being so kind and making everyone's day.

To the Editor:
I was disappointed that I couldn't make it to the last Victoria City Council meeting of 2007.  I had the flu and just wasn't up to it.  But if I had been there, I wanted to express my appreciation to Mayor Jerry Bohn for all of his public service these past ten years.
I know the long hours and hundreds of meetings, workshops, and events he has attended over the years and how much work and dedication it takes to make a city work.  Not an easy task and he made it look easy.
President Eisenhower was asked once how he could just retire to an old rundown hobby farm in Pennsylvania after the exciting career he had in the military and politics.  He simply stated that he just wanted to take something and make it better than when he found it.
And the same could be said for Mayor Bohn and all his terms on the city council and where the City of Victoria is positioned today.
Very few people in their public ser-vice lives can say they lifted an entire community, in such a short period of time, and made it better than when they found it.  Mayor Bohn certainly accomplished that with the City of Victoria.
So as you drive around town, Mayor Bohn, you should take a lot of pride knowing you were instrumental in the new elementary school, the new water treatment facility, the revitalized down-town, our extensive trail systems, the Laketown annexation, the Field House with its new sports fields, and the new downtown West addition.
The residences of Victoria are all better served for Mayor Bohn having been involved with this community and being willing to provide his leadership, integ-rity, passion, and vision during some fast paced, challenging times.  He helped make this a better community for every-one for years to come.
Thanks, Jerry.  It was a pleasure working with you over the years, and I'm sure I'll see you around even more now with all this free time you'll be enjoying.  Take care.

To the Editor:
This letter is to inform you of Frank Miley's intent to resign his position as President of Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria.  Frank has been offered an exceptional opportunity to serve at his alma mater, William Mitchell College of Law, as their Vice President for Strategic Planning.  The opportunity was simply too good to refuse.
Frank's new position will be at the cabinet level, serving as key advisor to the Dean of the Law School.  His new respon-sibilities will include leading and coordin-ating college-wide strategic planning, and collaborating with college leaders in de-veloping, implementing, and communicat-ing the school's mission, vision, and key strategies to the community.
While Frank is excited about return-ing to his alma mater, he did not make the decision to leave Holy Family lightly.  He has truly enjoyed his time at Holy Family and will miss the many friends and colleagues he has met while serving this community.
We have begun the planning process for the development of a search committee for the next President who will begin serving Holy Family in July of this year.  The committee has also begun efforts to search for an Interim President to serve until July, 2007.  Frank will assist us in these searches and continue to serve as Holy Family's President for the next 60 days.
On behalf of the entire Holy Family Board, I congratulate Frank on his new position and wish him all the best.
