To the Editor: I have recently returned to Blooming-ton from a six-month 34-country trip around the world. I was writing to see if your newspaper had any interest in pub-lishing articles about my travel. I have attached two articles. If you have an interest, please reply. Thank you. Joe Koch, Bloomington, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am a junior at the University of St. Thomas majoring in English with a writing emphasis. I was just wondering if you have any internships available. If you have time, please let me know if there are any possibilities. Thank you. Tim Schepers, via e-mail
To the Editor: Please keep up the good work. I am living without my right hip. Had it re-moved in November at Mayo. I'm really enjoying reading the Gazette from stem to stern. Carol Maas, St. Bonifacius, Minnesota
To the Editor: My mother passed away 11 years ago, on February 17th, 1991, of cancer. She was 63 years old. What is a mother? A heart that can hear every unspoken need, wisdom to know when to quietly lead, hands that reach out always helping and sharing, with eyes that reflect the joy that you find, arms to encircle but never to bind, a talent to make the most out of living, a mother is giving. Kay Meuwissen, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: You haven't heard from me since I was known as "Joan from Cologne." But I thought you might get a kick out of this, which my brother in California called me and said, "Why don't you write about it?" So it even made news in California. I'm still so enjoying your writings. I loved learning about the palindromic year. Thank you so much. Joan Clarno, Grandma Wonka from Minnetonka
To the Editor: Father Bob asked me to be sure and get this poem to you. As I told him, from the moment I heard the news on Septem-ber 11th and stood watching in disbelief, I felt angels. I knew they were there. Then came a compelling need to write this poem. It was a voice inside my head that kept saying, "Write the poem!" Now Tom and I had just moved back to Victoria from Chaska on August 11th, and my computer was not a priority to be hooked up, and the world had changed so much I put it off. The voice kept at me. "Write the poem!" On September 17th I wrote the poem. It simply flew onto the screen before me, almost like I was typing it from a printed page. Then I started hearing, "Send the poem!" So I e-mailed it to a few friends from my office, and the response nearly took down their system. I received e-mails from as far away as Australia, and even from a friend of the Barnett family, thanking me and telling me I had made them cry, but that it had made them feel better. Here is my poem. Please don't change any words if you want to use it. Carol Notermann, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Minnesota's worst air disaster occurred early this morning when a small 2-seater Cessna crashed in the Lutheran cemetery at Lake Woebegone. Ole and Sven, working as rescue team far into the night, have recovered 826 bodies and the count is expected to rise. Al Orsen, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am the owner of Around the Town Concierge and Errand Service located in Chaska. I was just recently featured on Good Day Minnesota about my service and was hoping that I could offer this ser-vice as well to the residents of Victoria. My service enhances both personal and professional lives by giving them time. I take care of all the "mundane chores" in their lives, which will allow them in return to spend more quality time with friends and family. I hope that I can be of service to your residents. Pamela J. Funk, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: We thought the Victoria Chamber Christmas party was wonderful. You did a good job, lady! Seems as though every-one had a great time. Take care. Barb Gunning, G & G Auto Sales, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I recently opened an insurance office here in Victoria and was interested in ad-vertising in the Gazette. Could you let me know what the rates are? Thanks. I am a Civil War historian/genealogist as an avocation, if you ever have need of an expert in that area. I have written a number of columns for papers about local Civil War soldiers. I'm also a re-enactor for the First Minnesota Infantry and was recently an actor in the upcoming movie Gods and Generals, the "prequel" to the Turner film, Gettysburg. Jerald Anderson, via e-mail
