True Love
by Jesse Coghill Jordan, Minnesota
I will never forget our first date When she let me hold her soft hand. Her lovely perfume filled the room And I floated in la la land.
When we went out I wanted to shout, "The whole world's covered with clover!" It's then I knew what's love's all about And my hormones were boiling over.
We broke up once and I, poor dunce, Wished to crawl in a hole and die. I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, At times I would break down and cry.
On bended knee I made my plea, With emotions I could not hide. She looked so sweet, and in one heartbeat Said, "I'd be honored to be your bride."
Together we set our wedding date, And my happiness knew no bound. With my beautiful bride at my side I was a king and she was my crown.
Well, that was many long years ago, And our love has stood the test of time. Every day in my simple way I tell her how glad I am she's mine.
