To the Editor: The Christmas displays are up at the mall and the snow will be flying soon. That means it's time again to head for Hungary! Our little team from Minnesota is putting the final touches on our plans, packing and trying to contain our excite-ment as we prepare for another Thanks-giving celebration and feast with our favorite orphans in Miskolc, Hungary. I've attached an information sheet about our trip. If you'd like to support us with your prayers, reply back with your name, church affiliation, and your city, state, or country. I'll put you on the list. You can't believe the diverse group -- from all over the world -- that you'll be a part of. If you would like to help our orphans financially, send a check along to me made out to Waterbrooke Fellowship, and I will make sure you get a tax deduction. Send it to Waterbrooke Fellowship, 2739 Spy Glass Drive, Chaska, MN 55318. Mostly we need your prayer. Thanks for praying. Pastor Maureen Bonner Waterbrooke Fellowship Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Never paid you for 2004 so this includes 2005. Look forward to your paper every month. Thank you for all the goings on. I'll be 80 in January. Don't read or write too good. Alice Broman Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: It's Merry Christmas time to blow out the candle of page 7 in your November Gazette and find the fishhook in the candleholder. I bet Tanta Frannie has a bushel of Christmas cookies made by now. Either the Keebler elf is making mine or I'll get the frozen dough with the pre-cut cookies ready for baking the "modern" way. I can remember Mom making five dozen of one kind and five dozen other kinds. The burnt ones went to the bird feeder. Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: At many funerals I've conducted, Taps was played on the trumpet. I had no idea which words went with that striking melody. At one burial service, Bill Paal sang one verse. He recently gave me ten pages of information on various military bugle calls of which Taps is unique with the U.S. military. Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the lake, From the sky. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.
Go to sleep, peaceful sleep, May the soldier or sailor, God keep. On the land or the deep, Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go, When the day, And the night Need thee so? All is well. Speedeth all To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar goeth day, And the stars shineth bright, Fare thee well; Day has gone, Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days, 'Neath the sun, 'Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky. As we go, This we know, God is nigh. Let us support our troops abroad. I remind all who believe in God to pray daily for an end to terrorism and an end to the war. Father Conran Schneider Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Not sure what to do. Mark and I found a dog on our porch 11/19/04 after-noon, in the cold and rain. Looked like it had been out for several days full of mud and burrs. We took him in, gave him a bath, and picked up some dog food for him. Now what? We called the police, humane society, and SW Metro Animal Rescue, and are waiting for a phone call back. The police said they could impound the dog. What are the normal steps one would take to help this poor dog out? He seems house trained and listens to commands, but has no collar and none of the neighbors recognize the dog. It looks to be a Cavalier King Charles Cocker Spaniel (after looking on a dog website), is mainly black with some brown in it. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. It has to be a family dog, and they must be missing him terribly. Mark and Susan Solem Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Today I received the November Gazette and found your fishhook in the candle in the ad of Leipold's of Excelsior on page 7. Only two or three times through the paper, I found it easily in a short time, but sometimes it takes me hours to find it. I opened Sue's Album and have seen "Family Fall Festival" with the nice pictures of your parents first, and also President Bush in Chanhassen. Love and prayer, Father Ferdinand Jennen Hasselt, Belgium
