To the Editor: On behalf of the Victoria City Coun-cil, I want to thank both John and Maryse Thomas for organizing and hosting the youth basketball clinic held in June at Victoria's Field House. Approximately 110 people participated in the experience. The clinic raised over $3,000 to benefit future Victoria Field House programs. Each person or organization who donated money to the Field House as a result of the clinic received a personal thank you note from me on behalf of the City of Victoria and Victoria's City Coun-cil. The letter also encouraged their con-tinued participation in the Field House via membership if they did not already have a Field House membership. The contribu-tions made on behalf of the Field house are fully federally tax deductible to the donors. When I stopped over at the clinic, it was so heartening to hear the noise, chatter, laughter, and athletic prowess on the part of the participating young people. I would like to hear this type of noise every day in the Field House. Clinics such as this present a strong example of the types of activities that can attract youth and their families to the Field House. Thank you, John and Maryse Thomas, for being such contributing members to the City of Victoria. We appreciate your thoughts and contribu-tions and look forward to continued exchanges and programs with you. Mayor Mary Hershberger Thun Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Thank you so much for including mention of the National Theatre for Children's "Bye Bye Bullies" show in the July issue of the Victoria Gazette. I was hoping to order three copies so I can send them to the National Theatre for Children. Could you please mail me three copies to the my address in Minneapolis? You can include a bill with the package and we will send you payment promptly. I can also provide you with a credit card number if you'd prefer payment that way. Best wishes. To the Editor: All my five children and spouses plus all but four of my eleven grandchild-ren were present to help me celebrate my 90th birthday as well as 90 guests. It was indeed a wonderful time. Thanks so much for the Glen Miller CD. Hope to listen to it on a quiet day. The Lord bless. Ethel Ausink Excelsior, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. What a great job you are doing with the Gazette. We love to take it up north to our cabin and read it and find the fishhook. We found it on page 20 on the bear's foot. I found it first this time. Please keep it up. Super job. Leon and Carol Maas St. Bonifacius, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Enjoyed reading your feature story last month, "On the Water-front," about the Notermann's. It brought back memories of driving out to Victoria with my dad in the 1970's to pick up Lake Region water skis for his sporting goods business in Excelsior. I believe my brother has some Lake Region water skis that he still uses. John Aldritt Eden Prairie, Minnesota
To the Editor: I have been golfing at Deer Run and lunching at the Victoria House this sum-mer on Thursday evenings. Your stories bring back memories of the early 1950's when I briefly attended the Victoria Pub-lic School. As I recall, it was two rooms, grades 1 through 8. My question is, if there is a map of the town at that time where I could locate the school in relation to a current map. If so, how can I obtain a copy? Or if someone knows the address of the school in relation to today's streets, I would appreciate finding out. Thanks. Dave Christianson via email
To the Editor: Sending the fishhook location. Thanks. By the way, the Victoria Gazette is the most interesting paper in the mail to get and read. Marcy Jaspers Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: My name is Jessie Houlihan and I work for Carver County Environmental Services. I have attached a press release we would like to publish and several photos that could accompany it. If you could forward this to the appropriate person, it would be much appreciated. I also ask that whoever receives this to notify me of the date it will be published. Thank you.
