*Council accepted a $200 donation to the Victoria Fire Department from Tom and Teresa Gregory. *Council approved the appointment of Tari Clay to the Victoria Senior Com-mission. *Council accepted a $200 donation to the city's Concerts in the Park series from Victoria Veterinary Care Inc. *Council authorized the hiring of Brian Pulvemacher to the Victoria Fire Department. The job description is for the basic firefighter position which is paid $8 per hour per call on duty and includes pension benefits. *Council authorized staff to purchase a new computer for the Park and Recrea-tion Department Administrative Assistant Bev Wruck. *Council authorized the purchase of a new computer for the Interim Field House Manager Corey Martin in an amount not to exceed $2,137. *Council approved the Charitable Gambling License with the State of MN for Chaska Lions to operate pulltabs at Floyd's Bar and Schmitty's Tavern. Since 2003 the Chaska Lions have do-nated $53,916 to the City of Victoria for use by the Park and Recreation Dept. *Council authorized a downtown market study proposal with the McComb Group at a cost not to exceed $10,825. The study will identify potential uses and densities in the current downtown and downtown expansion area. It could also become a marketing tool for potential de-velopers. *Victoria's Town Cop, Deputy Erick Boder, reported that traffic in Victoria has increased since the construction and detours of County Road 10 and Hwy 212. There are lots of traffic concerns and a heavier number of crashes. "We're feeling the frustration too," he said. *Said Jim Paulsen, "I want to know exactly what action is being taken about a stoplight at County Road 10 and Highway 212. We do not need two stoplights on that road before people get to Victoria." *Dave Urbia will place the 2007 Goal Setting Progress Report on the city's web-site. *Council directed staff once again to not file a report as requested by the State Auditor that includes all construction and development related fees collected from developers, builders, and subcontractors. City Attorney Mike Norton said that the highest courts still have not given definite ruling on legal actions by developers against other local governments alleging excessive building permit fees. He added, "What you submit is a snapshot in time. It may not be accurate the next day or the day before it was written." *Planning for the Victoria Volksfest continues. It is scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd. *Dave Urbia said he's shooting for mid August for finalization of title, etc., on the 13.5 acres of Land Swap property adjacent to downtown Victoria. *Tim Amundsen recommended a sit-down meeting with Brian Lundquist, the area's new representative on the Metro-politan Council replacing longtime mem-ber Julius Smith who chose to step down.
*Council held a moment of silence before their July 26th meeting to recognize the life and sudden death of former Coun-cilmember Terry Bishop, age 52.
