Letters- Aug.05 continued

To the Editor:
In your July paper, "O'er the Land of the Free," you have nice photos of your flag flying in Victoria.  Our first trip to America was in 1976 and we have seen in Fort Wayne a fortification and a fortified city as it was 200 years earlier in 1776.
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time," as you quote Thomas Jefferson.  I see the word God in your Declaration of Independence and also "the protection of Divine Provi-dence."  Such words, also the name of God, are not in our Belgian Constitution.  Our Constitution is totally liberal.
Two times in a week, as you know, I ring at doors here, inviting people to believe in God, in Jesus Christ, in His Church, to trust in God, and to pray.  Sometimes I am asked to enter, or to return.  On July 12th a young couple asked me to bless their new home.  It is the first time that a couple asked to bless their house.  Years ago it was more usual.
Good photos of your grandchildren, yours parents and brothers and sisters online for Father's Day, and you two, Sue and Al.  "Every little word and deed seems to acquire wings."
Love and prayer,
Father Ferdinand Jennen

To the Editor:
Thank you so much for the extra July Gazettes.  Everyone in my association wanted to see the wedding pictures from Honduras and read the article.  Thanks so much for using the great pictures.  They turned out so well.

To the Editor:
On behalf of the American Red Cross, the community of Victoria is to be commended for the dedication and volun-teerism shown at the blood drive held on July 25th at the Victoria Field House.  A total of 105 people showed up to donate 101 pints of life-saving blood.
Thanks to those who gave a small part of themselves to help others in need.  Special thanks to the recruitment callers, to those who helped with publicity, and those who helped the day of the draw.  A big thanks to the City of Victoria for use of the Field House.  Thanks to the Victoria Lions for continuing to sponsor and support the blood drive in many ways.
We especially thank first time donors and those who reach milestones.  We had an overwhelming show of 13 first-time donors:  Claire Messer, Miki Haddad, Amanda Thamert, Tyler Pierce, Patrick Hiding, and others not recorded.
Thank you to the continued donations of Jo Ridl (one gallon) and Loane Burau and Marie Storms (six gallons).  Thank you to donors who gave without being contacted.
The community of Victoria can be proud that so many neighbor and friends are committed to savings lives.
