The Spirit of 76

Life is full
Of twists and turns
And funny little tricks;
I've seem them all,
I'm standing tall,
The spirit of 76!
Seventy-six years
On God's green earth,
I took it all
For what it's worth,
Loss and gain,
Lots of pain,
But what the hell,
I can't complain.
They let me here

For one more year;
Life doesn't care
On whom it picks,
The spirit of 76!
Let the drummers drum,
Let the pipers hum,
It's been a happy mix.
With a smiley face
I will embrace,
The spirit of 76.
