*The City of Victoria will use grant money from the county to provide a spring and fall compost site at the Public Works Building, to offer coupons for the Environmental Center, and purchase per-manent waste receptacles for the parks.
*Council granted an extension of up to one year for the Krey Lakes develop-ment, which is proposed to be phased over the course of the next two to three years by Hartman Communities and The Pem-tom Land Company.
*Councilmembers approved several interfund loans.  Said Jim Paulsen to staff, "I'd like you to get that money back where it belongs.  There's $1.7 million in the wrong place."
*Councilmembers accepted a revised preliminary plat for a proposed develop-ment called Palmer Pointe, where a por-tion of a street called Casamita Road lies within the City of Victoria.  The develop-ment is located in Minnetrista.
*Mayor Mary Thun asked that a new category be added to the City Council's agenda packet each month, a category entitled "General Council Discussion."  Said Mary, "I really want to encourage people talking to each other."
*Councilmembers received detailed Action Steps from City Administrator Dave Urbia in regard to addressing the city's 2007 goals.  Those goals center on developing of the Central Business Dis-trict, resolving operation of the Victoria Field House, diversifying city revenues and tax base, completing the Comprehen-sive Use Plan Update, creating a service delivery culture of excellence, improving transportation and transit.
*Councilmembers adopted a resolu-tion that provides workers compensation coverage for the city's elected officials.
*Councilmembers extended the con-tract with Coverall Cleaning Concepts to include the Acorn House as well as the City Hall and Field House.  The extra cost is $425 per month.  The Acorn House had been cleaned in the past by a member of the P.W. Dept now on medical leave.
*Council authorized an expenditure of $2,000 for the Victoria Finance Direc-tor to attend a conference of the Govern-ment Finance Officers Association in Anaheim, California, in June.
*Council authorized an expenditure of $1,440 for four members of the Vic-toria Fire Department to attend the 2007 Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis in April.
*Council authorized staff with a 3-2 vote to advertise for proposals for lawn maintenance services for city property and easements.  Said Tim Amundsen, "It's like an outsourcing of something that doesn't need to go out.  Before we go through this dog and pony show, can we find out what other cities do?"  Said Finance Director Jylan Johnson, "Minne-trista does contract out for lawnmowing.  We are getting to the point where we'll need to replace mowers."
*Council authorized an expenditure of $2,400 to acquire U.S. flags and brackets for downtown light poles during patriotic holidays.
*Council authorized an expenditure of $2,700 to help the Victoria Chamber of Commerce pay for banners for the poles.
*Council awarded the bid for seal-coating streets this summer to Allied Blacktopping for $70,958.
