Happy Springtime!  I noticed a few tulips peeping through.  Seems too soon as there will still be cold weather coming up.  Have enclosed my annual subscrip-tion check.

What a nice story in the Gazette on your Mother's 80th birthday.  Our trip to Fatima and Lourdes together last spring was so beautiful and it is so nice to know you.  Perhaps I'll see you again someday.  Greet Father Bob for me.  This fall I'm going to visit Austria, Germany, and Switzerland - a tour with the Fridley KC's.  Love and prayers.

I enjoy reading your paper.  My great grandchildren like finding your fishhook.  This time I found it first, on page 16 on the fish in the KC ad.  You do a great job.  The Gazette is getting bigger and better.  Keep it coming.

I regret to report the death of long time Lake Auburn Moravian Church member, Myrtle Stewart.  She was 98 and was the grandmother of Fern Thurk, so please keep Fern in your prayers.  Myrtle had lived in Auburn West in Waconia for several years.

Hi, Sue.  I'm the new Administrative Assistant here at SouthWest Transit and will be writing newsletters and news releases.  I am working on some summer activities - Twins games in particular - so I'll surely have something for the Gazette soon.  We've met at St. Victoria at differ-ent functions.  My daughter Tracy was in choir for a few years.  I'll stop by and re-introduce myself the next time I see you there.

In the most recent Southwest Business magazine, I read an informative article about the multi-age level approach in Montessori schools.  They are celebrat-ing this philosophy that has been success-ful for 100 years!
Victoria Elementary School is near-ing the end of its second year.  They also value the concept of multi-age groupings.  Communities are arranged so that each has two classes of one grade level and two classes of another grade level.  They have some scheduled activities and mentoring opportunities.  After only two years, I believe that is commendable.
Victoria Elementary also uses flexible groupings for students.  Children are in academic classes based on their learning needs.  As those needs change, students are "flexed," or moved, into a different group.  This means they mix with a variety of students from their grade level throughout the day.  They see their reading friends, math friends, homeroom friends, and lunch/recess friends.
Imagine accommodating 500 individual children's needs.  It sounds daunting and it must be!
Victoria Elementary even offers a special request classroom placement form that parents may choose to submit
