To the Editor: I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Jake Wickenhauser. Some of you may not have heard the story of Jake. Jake was a 15-year old student at Pioneer Ridge Freshmen Center who was on the ninth grade football team. On March 10th, 2006, Jake died tragically at his home. This really affected everybody in the community, even those who were not personally close to him. It affected his schoolmates, religion class, friends, family. Now his closest friends - Matt, Danny, and Blake - and his family and everybody will never get to see him smile. I would please like to ask people to say a prayer for Jake's family and friends and, most importantly, for Jake himself. It's hard at 15 to lose a classmate and great person. Always remember Jake, not as he is now, but as he was when he was living and bringing joy to all around him. Melissa Schmieg, 15 Carver, Minnesota
To the Editor: Again, you have done it!! Excellent article about the Victoria Ice Fishing Con-test. Being a native of Denmark, we do not have this type of contest, as it does not get as cold there as it does here. The fish-hook is hiding on page 13 in the clover leaf. When Irish Eyes Are Smiling … Susanne Kenton St. Bonifacius, Minnesota
To the Editor: Enclosed is our renewal for the Gazette. The price increase is well deserved and a bargain considering the information and entertainment that your fine publication provides. We continue to enjoy meeting the people of Victoria and keeping up with the news of your families. Hope to see you and Al soon. Pauline and Pat Ahern Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: I truly enjoy your interesting paper. Keep up the good work. Here's a little more humor: One Sunday morning our pastor surprised the congregation. He said the poor are always welcome here and "I see by the collection plate they are all here." Florian Kerber Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Want to let you know how much your paper is appreciated and enjoyed by so many of us. Thank you for your wonder-ful work. Arla Rae Owens St. Louis Park, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Please renew your great little paper. We look forward to it each month. Jim and Carol Schmidt Phoenix, Arizona
To the Editor: Thanks for all the news and all your articles and the one-liners. It's good to hear about people I know and see them in the pictures. My latest CT scan says my back looks spectacular. Everything - screws and rods - are in place. My doctor and lots of people are amazed at how well I am. I walk like I used to before the back surgery. I thank God and all the people who prayed. God surprised the people who wondered if I could ever walk again. Miracles happen to those who have faith. God's blessings to you and you family. Sr. Lois Hauwiller St. Paul, Minnesota
To the Editor: I do the promotion work for Vestland Lodge, Sons of Norway and would like to list our events in your calendar. I do this monthly with all of the western suburban papers. We meet in Minnetonka, but draw from all of the western suburbs. Would you please let me know the proce-dure, email address, timeline, or whatever I need to know to do this in your paper? Thank you. Alva Benson Minnetonka, Minnesota
To the Editor: I left you a voicemail yesterday after-noon because my company is in the process of buying the old Notermann's Building in Victoria. I am looking for historic pictures of the building so we can use them when remodeling the building. Our goal during the remodeling pro-cess is to keep as many historical elements to the building as we can. The Carver County Historical Society recom-mended that I contact you in hopes that you may be able to help. If you have any information about the building's past, I would appreciate a quick phone call or email. Thank you. Justin Harguth St. Paul, Minnesota
