To the Editor: I just checked my records and dis-covered that I am a deadbeat subscriber! Apparently I neglected to pay up last summer, and now summer is again a glimmer on the horizon -- down here in Texas anyway -- so I am sending $20 to restore me to your good graces. I just thought of an interesting item for the Gazette. When I was home last summer, my mother showed me a couple pages from one of her photo albums. She took photos of all of the young Laketown Township lads in their World War II uniforms: Buddy and Nushie Schmid, the Koehnens, Plochers, LeRoy Zanger (KIA), John Schoen, and several more. Bob Miller Baytown, Texas
EDITOR'S NOTE: Hi, Mr. Miller. I would love to get copies of those photos from you. If you'd go through the trouble of getting reprints made, I'd reimburse you. Thanks for thinking of the Gazette.
To the Editor: My heartfelt congratulations to you and Al on the arrival of your grandchild, Sweet Adeline. The arrival of a baby is a very special blessing, and I'm really happy for your family. Adeline is blessed to have such great grandparents. I know she will grow up in a family full of love. Again, congratulations on your new grandchild and best wishes to your won-derful family. Please let me know if I can ever be helpful in any way. Best regard, Jim Ramstad Member of Congress Third District, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I just wanted to let you know that my parents, Willie and Jean Bongard, will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 30th, 2003. Lois Hansel Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Sure enjoy reading the Gazette. As soon as it comes I stop what I'm doing and start reading. Arlene Jensen Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Enclosed is my check for another year. I moved back to Chaska on October 28th and live at River Gables. I just love it here. My daughter Dianne retired in December from teaching and coaching volleyball for 26 years at SCSU. She has built a home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and moved there shortly after Christmas. She will be coming home for a visit on March 24th. My son Dave has lived in Ft. Lauder-dale, Florida, for ten years. He is still having problems since 9/11. Thank you. Juanita Glowatzke Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: The buck stops here, The fishhook is near, Spring will spring, Easter is here! Nope, that isn't a Burma Shave road sign rhyme! I found the fishhook on page 36. Happy Easter, everyone. Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thanks for all the local news and views. Enclosed is our renewal. The fishhook is on page 36 in the Nationwide Travel Service ad. Rosen Harker Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Enclosed is my renewal for the Victoria Gazette. We enjoy getting all the news from Victoria. You are doing a wonderful job. Good luck. My brother Vernon has passed away so you can take his name off. I live with my brother Edwin Kerber. Thank you. Adella Kerber Chanhassen, Minneesota
To the Editor: Enclosed is my $10 renewal subscrip-tion. I also wanted to share with you a life changing experience inspired by this newspaper ... Last fall, in September, you had a front page piece on the Victoria Fire Department. It showed pictures of all the firefighters and separate interviews of each of them. What caught my eye was the picture of Kari, the female firefighter in the department. I've always thought of joining a fire department, but was inspired even more so after seeing Kari. So in November, 2002, I joined the Victoria Fire Depart-ment and became the second female fire-fighter. It's been almost five months, and I've loved every second of it. Thanks for the inspiration. Sincerely, Alicia Arndt Victoria, Minnesota
