Thank you, kind and generous readers, for putting ten dollars in those remittance envelopes that were inserted in each and every edition of the Gazette last month. In some ways, having those envelopes go out each year is like fishing, like casting a net out into the sea and coming up with enough fish to put on a very big Lenten dinner. Your response, again this year as in past years, continues to be overwhelming. I clutch my heart because you make it so soft that I think it's going to melt all the way down into my shoes if I don't literally keep it propped in place. Your support and encouragement are pillars of strength for me. I can't imagine what I'd ever do without you ... or without the Gazette. I've said it before, that the paper is like one of my children. You do everything you can to bring it up right ... you shower it with love and truth ... you draw lines in the sand that should not be crossed ... you get a few bruises ... you mean business ... you throw in plenty of Hershey kisses and red licorice ... and once in a while you give it a little spanking. But you love it like crazy, unconditionally as a matter of fact. Seems that this elusive fishhook that I hide in each and every edition of the Gazette is a favorite part of the paper for many of you. Thanks. It's the part that requires the least effort and absolutely no planning or headache whatsoever. And as long as you get your meat and potatoes in other ways, fish on Fridays is just fine. The March fishhook was in the dollar sign on page 36. Christine Peterson of Victoria, Minnesota, had her name pulled in the drawing. She can buy extra Easter candy with the ten dollars that will soon be on the way to her. Congratulations, Christine. I'm not about to reveal to anybody where the April fishhook is hidden. That'd be telling. You gotta look for it to find it. If you find it, drop a line to me at Box 387 in Victoria, MN 55386, telling of its location, and sink it in the mail posthaste. I was going to suggest that you could use the remittance envelope that was inserted in your Gazette last month to enter the drawing, but I think you've already sent it in to me. Thanks again for your generosity, but I will not let it sway me or bribe me! I will never reveal in advance where I hid that fishhook.
