April's Here!
by Jesse Coghill Jordan, Minnesota
April's here and gone's the snow, Let grass turn green and waters flow. The birds return, I hear them sing, April's here, it's spring again!
Robins so full and joy and zest, They court and mate and build their nests, Lay their eggs and hatch their young, Happy am I that spring has sprung.
Winter days so bleak and gray, Now they seem light years away. Balmy nights and pleasant weather, Why can't springtime last forever?
Baby lambs are hopping around, With a happy bleating sound, Nursing on their doting mothers, Playing tag with little brothers.
Flowers blooming by the fence Are mine to pick at no expense. Winter's gone, at last I'm free! That's what April means to me.
