Winter Lights at the Arboretum

Christmas began at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum on Friday, November 23rd, the day after Thanksgiving, and we showed up the very next day.

The Snyder Building at the Arboretum provides a grand entrance no matter the season.

It wasn’t a perfect winter evening because the cold breezes found ways to invade the open spaces of coats and neck scarves, but the light displays that stretched across the acreage was so amazing we forgot it was cold outside.

Arches of light painted the pathways from one display to another.  It was like a wonderland at every turn.

The Great Hall, which provided a warm reprieve and refreshments, featured a 24-foot tall live poinsettia tree.  The watering of it, alone, has got to be an amazing feat.

The hundreds and thousands of lights and stars and decorated evergreen trees in the Great Hall are magical.

The Great Hall is spectacular from floor to ceiling.

The lines were long, both coming and going, also orderly, with much to see along the way.  We hope to return soon to view the rest of the lights, only a mile from our front door.
