Welcome to Our World

The May, 2006, issue of the Victoria Gazette features the Victoria Care Center and the Gregory family.  It is online and in the Archives at www.VictoriaGazette.com.  But it doesn't include all of these wonderful colorful photos.  Every home in Victoria has its own story, but no other home in Victoria has a story like the home of Tom and Teresa Gregory … "Welcome to our world!  Won't you come on in?  Miracles, I guess, still happen now and then."

Teresa Gregory decorates the elevator at the Victoria Care Center with her children's drawings.  She calls it their Art Gallery.  It was in 1995 that Tom and Teresa Gregory turned their home on Stieger Lake Lane into the Victoria Care Center.

Tom and Teresa have three children -- Timothy, Taylor, and Tannis -- and three miniature pinchers -- Lance, Minnie, and Roho.

The dining hall at the Victoria Care Center also serves as a game room and one of the several gathering spaces for residents and visitors.

The Great Room is home to comfortable lounge furniture, a big screen television, and a piano.  Taylor and Tannis play piano for the residents.  Timothy plays the clarinet.

Residents also like to watch the Gregory kids play video games on the big screen with their remotes.

One corner of the Great Room has a little nook for a more private setting and woodstove space.

This is the kitchen where meals and snacks are prepared for the residents.  It is large and spacious with the most up to date conveniences and appliances.

One of the back doors at the Victoria Care Center leads to the private backyard that residents enjoy in warmer weather.  Wildlife views from the Dining Hall and Great Room, and some of the bedrooms, bring a bit of nature indoors all year long.

All nine bedrooms at the Victoria Care Center are private, warm, and personal.

Resident Lisa Perks of Chaska and Teresa were high school classmates.

Gretchen McNamara of Victoria visits her mother Ellie Hoye at the Care Center.  "Mom is close to us and that's a blessing," said Gretchen.  "We're happy with Mom's care here.  Teresa stays on top of things."

Resident Arleigh Bohnen of Excelsior and her daughter Jodie Mitchell of Victoria are "absolutely happy with the Victoria Care Center.  It's such a home atmosphere.  Kids are here.  Dogs are here.  Residents are living with a family.  There is also a wonderful group of young people working here."

Resident Ruth Braunwarth of Norwood Young America and Ashley Dobratz of New Germany, an employee at the Care Center.

Michelle Gesinger, an employee from St. Bonifacius, and Anna Eggers, a resident from Cologne.

The tiny pinchers are perky.  Teresa and Taylor are pretty.

The Gregory family home was remodeled and enlarged to become the Victoria Care Center.  It is located on Stieger Lake, just east of the Victoria Dairy Queen in downtown Victoria.

Dee Dee, the family collie, is also in the picture.  Thank you, Tom and Teresa, for your hospitality.

The End

Love, Sue
