Very Victoria Volksfest 2008

It was a beautiful day all around in downtown Victoria for the 2008 Volksfest.  Under blue skies and 80 degrees, hundreds if not thousands of people attended the many festivities and activities filling a two-block area of the central business district.  Antique cars lined the streets.  The aroma of brats and homemade German potato salad was enticing.  Lena and Tina entertained on the street corner.  Music filled the air and friends gathered everywhere.  Notice all the nice buildings on the Victoria Veranda today.

That’s Dale Riley, whose Fresh Seasons Market, Drug Store, and Parking Lot will soon occupy a big chunk of downtown Victoria, including where he’s standing with Mary Moore of Victoria and her daughters Jill Kunze and Judy Forcier.  By the way, Mary’s maiden name is Wartman and, yes, she’s related to Tom Wartman, partner of Dale Riley in the Fresh Seasons project, like second or third cousin.

Members of the Victoria Lions worked a beverage booth at the Volksfest.  Pictured below are (l-r) John Wilhoit, Paul Schullo, Jerry Schmieg.

Members of the Lake Auburn Moravian Church handed out delicious anniversary cake to everyone who happened by.  The church is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.  Pictured above (l-r) are Pastor Frank Jones, his wife Carol, and church members RaNaye Miller, and Ron Holtmeier.

Floral creations of Linda Wynn lent even more color and class to the Victoria Volksfest 2008.  Call Linda at 952-443-4669 to inquire.

Under one of the popular tents we found decorated denim clothes for kids.
