The Mississippi and the Gardens at St. Cloud

We recently spent a weekend in St. Cloud, MN, with daughter Jenny and granddaughter Addie and discovered one of the most impressive garden spots we’ve ever visited.  First we found the Windsor Court Fountain.

The Munsinger and Clemens Gardens in St. Cloud are only an hour away from Victoria and free to visit.

This outstanding park consists of two adjacent gardens on the banks of the Mississippi River, which is just around the corner from the Mississippi River Dam.

The Renaissance Fountain with Cranes is the centerpiece of the Clemens Garden.  It is a super structure of cast iron with applied bronze figures.  Surrounding the base are four bathing boys.  Cranes adorn the large middle tier.  At the top of the 24-foot fountain stands a sculpture of Hebe, cup bearer to the gods.  This fountain was dedicated in 1999.

This is a sculpture of Virginia and William Clemens, benefactors of the Clemens Gardens, established in 1986.

We strolled the winding paths and found the gardens to be clean, neat, manicured, fresh, and lush, next to the river.
