The AuGUST Days of AUgust

Classic Car Nights continued through August in downtown Victoria.

Bruce Shoger of Victoria and his bashful beige 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible.

A brilliant blue 1936 Dodge Coupe owned by Lee Anderson of Victoria.

Remember when people drove up to an A & W drive-in stand and never got out of their car?  Carhops took your order and brought food to your window on a tray that required the driver’s window to be raised about three inches or so.  The bill was paid immediately and a tip was sometimes left on the tray.

Ben Landhauser, hired in November 2014 to be Victoria’s Community Development Director, is next to his wife Cassie, center, and their friend Ashley Peters of St. Paul.  Ben and Cassie relocated from Waukee, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa, to a home in Waconia.  “Morning drive to work is a breeze!” says Ben, who commuted for a time from Iowa.

Dave Dop of Minnetonka and his lime green 1934 Olds Touring Sedan.

A 1935 Dodge pickup truck owned by Denny and Jane Wanous of North Mankato, MN.

A 1936 Canary Yellow Ford.

A 1938 Chevy Coupe owned by Dan and Judy Nelson of Hopkins, MN.

Jerry Hilgers of Victoria and a 1964 Ford Fairlane owned by Jerry Thurk of St. Bonifacius, MN.

A 1959 Custom Rambler owned by Jon Dressen of Chaska, MN.

Allan and I sat a while with old Victoria friends, Jerry and Ruth Hilgers.
