Sophie’s First Communion

Little Sophie Orsen made her First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 7th, 2017, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park, MN.  That’s (l-r):  Deacon Larry Lawinger, Father Michael Barsness, and Father Paul Treacy.

Sophie sat between her parents, Nick and Jen, in an assigned seat, before Mass started.

Jenny and Addie came by train all the way from Tioga, ND, to be at Sophie’s First Communion.  Jenny is Sophie’s Godmother as well as Sophie’s aunt.  Relatives of the First Communicants were assigned different seats.

Mia was wearing bright spring colors.

After Mass, the First Communicants were invited up to the altar for a special blessing by the priests.

Grandma Sue got a picture before Sophie went to her tall girl place in the back row.

Grandma Sue just kept taking pictures.

Nick and Jen joined Sweet Sophie on the altar.

Then it was time to go to their house for brunch and to open presents.

Jen’s mother Helen is always a big help to the family.

A hug for Jenny and Sophie.

Helen’s sister Margaret was also at Sophie’s party, and others who didn’t get in my pictures.

After only one night and one day in the Cities, Jenny and Addie got back on the train.  Union Station is in St. Paul.
