Sharlene’s Funeral Luncheon

If it weren’t for weddings, big anniversaries, and funerals, some of us would hardly see each other.  Such was the occasion for my Aunt Sharlene Drown’s funeral Mass and luncheon at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Minneota, MN, on Friday, August 2nd.  Even then, many people didn’t get in the picture, only the few who were sitting at our end of the dining hall.

Love, Susan

The three “boys” on the perimeter of this photo are three of my 35 first cousins on my mother’s side.  That’ Jay Opdahl on the left, seated next to his mother, my Aunt Sandy Opdahl, of Minneota.  On the  right are Max Williams (with the tie) from San Francisco, California, and DJ Opdahl of Des Moines, Iowa.  DJ is the youngest of the 35 and I am the oldest.  In the center of the photo are Uncle Mike and Aunt Norma Opdahl of Spicer, MN.

The three “girls” on the perimeter of this photo are my sisters Nancy (in the black), seated next to me, and Barb (in the red).  That’s Mom and Dad in the picture, with my Aunt Clarone Williams from Half Moon Bay, California, between Mom and Barb.

Two of my four brothers on the left, Bernie and Paul, and my brother in law Steve Boerboom on the right.

My brother in law Doug Leibfried and my sister with their daughter Alyssa who sang “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman” at the funeral.

My mother, 86, the oldest of seven, and my Aunt Clarone, 79, sisters of Sharlene who had just turned 77.  They’ve already lost another sister, Elaine, and two brothers, Harold Junior and Dan.
