Playing in Tioga

After a train ride through the night, we arrived in Tioga, ND, the morning of July 11th and spent the next three days with daughter Jenny, husband Chris, and Addie and Gunnar.  Among the highlights was a boat ride on Lake Sakakawea.

That’s a strip of coal in the rock high above the shoreline and rockline of this amazing skyline.

Pieces of coal had fallen into the lake and we wondered how they might work on an outdoor grill.

Addie showed me pictures and told about her recent trip out east to Maryland and Washington DC.  She had advanced to nationals for her outstanding score on the Future Business Leaders of America exam.  Addie’s photos are really good and I enjoyed her natural eye for composition.

Allan did some sketch-up possibilities for a front-door entrance to their home.

Jenny’s chickens lost all their yellow fuzz and should be laying eggs this fall.

In between the trampoline and volleyball games (Addie is a star volleyball player and Gunnar is a star football player), we stopped for treats at the Red Moose Coffee Hus — Jenny’s shop in downtown Tioga.

And then they played four-square when we got back home.

Goliath and Lucy kept trying to get in on the action.

Jenny loves her big puppies.

So does Addie.  After it got dark, Christopher shot off a bunch of amazing fire works for us.  And soon it was time to get back on the train for Minnesota.  Thank you, kids, for a wonderful summer break.
