VICTORIA LIONS OKTOBERFEST

OKTOBERFEST AT ENKI BREWING

VICTORIA FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE

In mid September it was 90 degrees in Victoria.  A week later, temperatures were in the 60’s.  On September 29th, it was down in the 30’s and 40’s.  So that floor heat felt good in the Lions Pavilion that evening and the garage doors stayed down.  So did the number of people who attended the event.

Some of the little ones couldn’t contain their dancing feet.

The Minnesota Valley Community Band from Chaska had everyone’s rapt attention as they provided a living repertoire.

Members of the band and friends remained after the concert.  (L-r):  Becky Janes, Linda Aaberg, Susan and Tim Blotz, and Jane Fox.

Hi, Judy Forcier, Joe Chapman, and Mary Moore.

Who took my camera!

Front (l-r)L  Mark Stulz, Jerry and Gerda Schmieg, Susan and Doug Hines, Cindy Stulz.  Back:  Ray and Lisa Notermann.

Victoria Lions working the kitchen included, front (l-r):  Wanda Baldus, Julie Page, Judy Janish.  Back:  Matt Jensen, Mike Simon, Jon Carlson, Steve Olson, Martin Teall, and Bryan Olson.

Oktoberfest at Enki Brewing in Victoria meant souvenir steins, ice cold beer, firepits to help stay warm outdoors, and most people staying inside the Enki building where it was toasty warm on an otherwise cold Saturday, September 29th.

The guitarist that afternoon was Billy Johnson.  In the evening, live music was provided by No Man’s String Band.

Mike and Beth Lauwagie of Victoria were part of the young crowd enjoying activities at the Enki Oktoberfest.

Barely 50 degrees with a light misty rain on Monday evening, October 1st, did not keep families away from activities, supper, and rides on the fire trucks.

This year the Fire Department exchanged the exhibits and information booths (above) to where the dining tables are usually located for the Open House.  It worked out well.

These tables filled up with plenty of sloppy joes, hot dogs, chips, and pickles to go around for everybody.

There are now 36 firefighters in the Victoria Fire Department, but I took a picture of only two of them — Aaron Jurek, left, and Jeremiah Gossett.

The exhibit by Minnesota Valley Electric showed and explained how to be safe around electric wire.  That’s Sawyer Moser, left, and Grant Frendshuh.
