The Victoria GAZETTE

Sue’s Album

A symphony of photos

and fewer than a thousand words

at www.VictoriaGazette.com

New Veterans Services Office by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner.  “The office has moved from the historical society building in Waconia to the Government Center in Chaska.”

The Deer Run Golf Course by Tom Abts, Deer Run Golf Pro.  “It has been in Victoria now for almost 30 years.  It opened in the fall of 1989.  The next year, 1990, was its first full season.  It’s come a long way since those early years.”

Regarding Dentistry by Sue Orsen.  “It was another pleasant September evening when Regarding Dentistry held an Open House at their new location on Hwy 5 just east of downtown Waconia.  Catered food and beverages contributed to the camaraderie.”

Helping Hurricane Relief by Matt Bergmann, President, Victoria Lions Club.  “The Lions agreed to donate $10,000 towards the Lions Club International Foundation to help communities most in need because of the damage caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.  We are challenging the community to help us send another $10,000.”

Checking In from Up North by Chuck Freiberg, Up North Cabin Guy.  “In our free time, the Gal and I have repainted the exterior of our cabin and the garage with a mellow green with white trim.  Then I made a pile of used wood-slatted bifold closet doors into window shutters.”

Final Leg of the Six-Mile Creek by Erdahl Aerial and the MCWD.  “This aerial photo shows the final portion of Six Mile Creek as it flows east from Mud Lake in the foreground to Halstead’s Bay on Lake Minnetonka.”

Artistry of the Hautmans by Susie Hopper, MN Arboretum.  “Bob Hautman won the 2017 Federal Duck Stamp Art Contest on September 16th.  It is Bob’s third win in the contest.  An exhibition of Hautman art runs thru Nov. 5th at the Arboretum.”

A Gathering for New Postmaster Karla by Sue Orsen.  “We learned that Karla J.Bogucki, Victoria’s new postmaster, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Music Therapy and also a 12-year career with the U.S. Postal Service.”

Underground work on Lions Pavilion by Victoria Lion Al Orsen.  “Years ago concrete was delivered via a Redi-Mix truck and workers transported concrete with wheelbarrows to where it was being used.  The concrete pump with the long arm moved and placed 30 cubic yards of concrete in 45 minutes.  That would have translated to 300 or more wheelbarrow loads.”

Chain of Lakes Partner-ship by Bill Olson, Victoria, MCWD Board of Managers.  “The Minneapolis Chain of Lakes remains some of the healthiest urban lakes in the nation.”

A Crowd at the Hartman Garden Center by Christie Wood.  “Over 700 people attended the Garden Center’s annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 30th.”

Feathering His Nest by Sue Orsen, The Victoria Gazette.  When Gail Berger happens upon a perfect piece of décor for The Blessing House, preferably something old with a history and a story, she says it is “God feathering His nest.”  That’s how Gail explains a lot of things, a lot of life.  Click on Front Page.

Nickle Dickle Day in Waconia by Sue Orsen.  “It was our good fortune that it stopped raining when we arrived that Saturday morning of September 16th and mixed with thousands of people in Waconia.”

Apple Day in Excelsior by Sue Orsen.  “Gigantic tents kept people dry when it sprinkled.  We enjoyed chicken wings, live music, blooming plants, and people everywhere.”

A Hunting We Will Go by Tom Stumpf, Cowboy Correspondent.  “As the official outdoor columnist for this fine publication, I have the strong urge every autumn to relate some sort of tale regarding the harvest of wildlife here in the Great State of Ten Bazillion Mosquitoes.”

Lake Auburn at Enki by Pastor Brian Dixon, Lake Auburn Moravian Church.  “On Sunday evening, September 17th, at Enki Brewing in downtown Victoria, several people milled around the taproom, warily eyeing a circle of chairs for our Improv event.”

Ridgeview at Enki by Sue Orsen.  “At least a hundred people gathered at Enki Brewing on a pleasant September evening for presentations by Bob Stevens, retiring CEO at Rigeview Medical Center, and Michael Phelps, the incoming CEO.”

Waconia Lions Club by Waconia Lion Jim Sanborn.  “The Waconia Lions have announced they are organizing a trip in April 2018 to take Korean and Vietnam War veterans to Washington DC.”

Crown College Best in the Midwest by Tara Anderson, Crown College.  “U.S. News & World Report just released their 2018 ranking of the Best Regional Colleges.  Located in St. Boni, Crown was ranked #53 for overall school quality in the 12-state Midwest area.”

Goodbye, Summer and Classic Car Nights by Sue Orsen.  “Featuring Brian Carlson of Victoria and his ‘67 Impala SS Chevrolet, Ron & Cherie Tanghe of Victoria & their 2017 Camaro SS Chevrolet, and others.”

The Beautifulness of Brie by Christie Schlueter, Regular Visitor to Victoria.  “You can’t go wrong with these recipes.  I just made the brie past for dinner yesterday.  Tasty!”

Remember when by Sue Orsen.  … Hank Fossum built his garage in town?  When it sold to Don Eisenreich?  When it was purchased by the City of Victoria?  When it became a public parking lot?  When it became a 5-story 80-unit apt bldg. called Victoria Flats?

Kelly Roush, 36, died August 30th.
