New Year’s Eve ~ 2013

Love, Sue and Allan, too.

As is customary, we spent New Year’s Eve with our “travel friends,” the Pauly’s and the Flora’s.

That’s Lloyd and Rosalie Pauly of Chanhassen on the left, John and Jan Flora of Fridley on the right.  We call them our travel friends because we’ve traveled so much together.  First of all, we’ve traveled and spent time together in every major city in the USA — from Boston to San Francisco, from Toronto to San Antonio — through the American Public Works Association, to which the men had membership.

We’ve also traveled together to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, and Alaska by Land and by Sea.  We’ve traveled together on a Carribean Cruise, a Cruise to Nova Scotia and Quebec City, plus the Alaskan Cruise.  We’ve been on a tour together to Italy that included Rome, Capri, Pompeii, Assisi, Florence, Venice, and other Italian cities and highlights.

This year for New Year’s Eve we had dinner reservations at Houlihan’s in Chanhassen and overnight reservations at the AmericInn in Chanhassen, adjacent to Houlihan’s.  The AmericInn has a comfortable fireplace room where we enjoyed conversation and appetizers before dinner.

On the morning of January 1st, 2014, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the AmericInn — scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles with syrup or strawberries, Danish rolls and muffins, toast and jams, cereals, yogurt, orange juice and coffee.  Breakfast comes with the room.

After breakfast we all went to Mass at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church across the street; it’s where Pauly’s are members.  Happy New Year, travel friends.
