The Scoop

at City Hall

***

Notermann’s store was in the Notermann family for 79 years.  John Notermann retired in 1977, retaining ownership of the building, and leased its space to other grocers for a time, eventually succumbing entirely to big boxes down the road.  Today, in 2009, there are more and bigger boxes down the road, yet Victoria residents continued to clamor for a grocery store in town.

Fresh Seasons Market answered the call.  Thank you, Dale Riley and Tom Wartman.  We’re happy to have you in the neighborhood bringing us so much to eat, and more, in an extremely fresh and pleasing manner.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Historical information in this comparative feature was taken from past issues of the Victoria Gazette and an interview with the late John Notermann.
