Winchester & Rye:  A Dream Come True by Sue Orsen/The Victoria Gazette.  Said Kim Heenie, “It’s a dream come true.  Kevin and I had only been gone from Island View a couple weeks when I got a call from Mary Meuwissen, asking if I’d like to start a new restaurant in downtown Victoria.  We’ve been planning and working together ever since.”  Click on Front Page.

It’s a Small World After All by Steve Jesberg, Former Resident II of Victoria.  “Last October, my wife Carroll Anne booked a Coach Tour of the UK.  I could tell you about the museums, churches, and castles, and the beautiful scenery, but I am going to go in a different direction.  Being a bartender in another life, I felt the need to explore as many of the pubs in the countries as possible.”

Pantry Jars in Victoria by Mike Wartman, Former Resident I of Victoria.  “Fortunately for all citizens of Victoria, the elders had prepared for the long winter, and near hunger levels of the populace never materialized.  The larders, root cellars, and canning rooms were filled to capacity providing enough to last the winter.”

Adopt a Drain by Bill Olson, Victoria, MCWD Manager.  “Although there is still a lot of snow on the ground, I am excited to let you know about a new program that will be launching soon:  Adopt a Drain.  This metro-wide program will provide you an easy way to take steps in your own neighborhood to protect your local lake, river, or stream from pollution.”

Puff Pastry Delights by Christie Schlueter, Regular Visitor to Victoria.  “There are some products in the grocery store that one just must try.  One of my favorites is puff pastry.  It can do anything from a dinner to a dessert and is much esaier to pull out of the freezer, but I still love to make it from scratch.”

Legislative Breakfast in MacMillan Auditorium by Jeff Filipek, SW Metro Chamber.  “The SW Metro and Waconia Chambers hosted their annual legislative breakfast at the MN Landscape Arboretum.  Senator Scott Jensen and Rep. Jim Nash and Rep. Greg Boe attended along with around 60 business and community leaders.”

A Continuous Process of Change in the Course of a Lifetime by Deb Taylor, CEO, Sr. Community Services.  “Life brings different rhythms — different timetables — for each of us.  We lose dear loved ones, we grieve, we face changes — diminished mobility, an end to driving the car, maybe a different place to live after decades in the long-time family home.”

Victoria Library Log by Jodi Edstrom, Youth Services Librarian.  “Some of our youth programs include Family Storytime, Toddler Storytime, Pete the Cat Storytimes, and Animal Sleepover Storytime.”

Ten Victoria Homes in the 2019 Spring Parade by BATC.  “There are 472 new homes in the 2019 Spring Parade with homes starting at $210,000.”

Carver is Fastest Growing County in MN  by Eric Sieger, Communications.

Old School Golf by Tom Abts, Deer Run Golf Pro.  “We know that the internet has changed our lives.  And mostly for the better.  Information and ideas are vital to civilization.  Cavemen expressed themselves by drawing on cave walls.  More advanced people wrote on parchment.”

From the Victoria Elementary School by Jeremy Engebretson, Administrative Dean. “Students in Mrs. Behun and Mrs. Neisheim’s classes were inspired to fold origami cranes after reading Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, authored by Eleanor Coerr, published in 1977 and set in Japan after WWII.”

In This Boat of Life Together by Pastor Kevin Dibbley, Waterbrooke Christian Church.  “On March 18th, 1990, the largest art heist in U.S. history took place at the Isabel Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.  Several paintings valued near $500 million were stolen by two men posing as police offices investigating a disturbance call.”

Phasing Plan for Victoria Hwys by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner.  “While the County has placed a large amount of resources into the U.S. Hwy 212 project, it’s hardly the only one in the pipeline.  We’ve partnered MnDOT and the Cities of Victoria, Chanhassen, and Chaska on a transportation plan near the MN Arboretum.”

It’s Time to Downsize by Tom Stumpf, Cowboy Correspondent.  “Is it just me, or do other people believe that this great country in which we live is in a bit of a sticky wicket at this time?  For over two centuries now, the United States of America has been the great bastion of freedom to which millions of people have fled.”

Schram Haus Brewery Opening in Chaska by Tara Mulkey, Scram Vineyards.  “Schram Haus Brewery is slated to open this spring and is located just inside of town in the old Carver County Public Works building, situated on a high bluff overlooking downtown Chaska.”

Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan in Carver County by Kelly Miller, Deputy Emergency Management Director.  “Local jurisdictions are required to update the plan every five years to remain eligible for pre-disaster and post-disaster mitigation grant programs.”

Raspberry Bomb Saison Launches at Enki by Jeanne Arnst, Enki Controller, Victoria, MN.  “Enki Brewing is officially launching Raspberry Bomb Saison in its taproom on March 8th, coinciding with International Women’s Day.”

Ray Quist One of 10 Best by the American Institute of Real Estate Professionals.  “Ray Quist has been recognized for exceptional performance and client satisfaction.”

About Smartphones and Kids Brains by Rachel Anderson, Minnetonka, MN.  “New author Judy Stoffel says smartphones have changed the way kids are growing up and not necessarily for the better.”
