Aloha, Girls. The Chaska Hawks Varsity Gymnastic team participated in the Breck Invitational Luau Meet in February. Four of the athletes live in Victoria.

The team is coached by Chris Lacy and Jen McCarney. Elle’s mother, Crystal Alvarez, put all the outfits together. I’m hoping this photo can make the Gazette.

Holy Family Catholic High School provides Catholic parish schools -- like St. Joe’s in Waconia, St. Hubert’s in Chanhassen, Guardian Angels in Chaska, St. John’s in Excelsior -- an opportunity to play traveling weekend basketball. We provide gym space, uniforms, coaches, and tournaments for the area kids, helping to provide the same services that public schools offer.

The Chanhassen Athletic Association had the opportunity to play in the Target Center recently, and they invited our team to play against them. The Target Center has a program where they allow youth teams to play during the day and then they allow the kids to stay and watch the Timberwolves play.

Senior Captains. I’ve sent a bunch of soccer pics that you have graciously printed -- thank you. My oldest, Erin, is one of the Senior Captains of the Chaska Hawks Gymnastics Team. Bonnie Carlson of Victoria was honored as the Outstanding Individual in Tourism by Explore Minnesota Tourism at their annual conference on January 29th. Her 24 years of service at the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau was recognized as a substantial contributor to the state’s travel industry.

The award is given when an individual of significant caliber surfaces by demonstrating leadership qualities to advance the travel industry. Bonnie has been at the forefront of the hospitality industry at state, national, and international levels.

Black Bears 7-4. The Black Bears 5th and 6th grade girls in-house basketball team recently finished their season with a 7-4 record. Serving Others for Soccer. This is a picture of the Girls Soccer U17C2 Chanhassen/Chaska United Soccer team. These young ladies, along with many of their mothers, spent a Saturday morning working at Feed My Starving Children. They packed 12,528 meals which will feed 34 kids for an entire year.

The team also held a fundraiser in February that included serving breakfast at the Applebee’s restaurant in Chanhassen. The money raised helped to offset the cost of the dome and gym rental and some tournament fees. Thank you to Applebee’s for their support again this year.
