Little Ones on the Lake

No stopping this young lady who said there is, indeed, a baby in the “carriage.”

Dylan Lowe, 21 months, son of Ryan and Carrie Lowe of Victoria, knew just how to hold a fishing rod and what he wanted to catch on the end of it.

Ryan Lowe steps in to help the photographer get another cute picture of his son.

A group with Victoria family ties.  Left to right:  Doris and Bob Schmieg, their son Josh Schmieg, their daughter Carrie Schmieg, then Tracy Schrempp, Trent Newville, Tom Schrempp, Colton Schrempp (son of Tom and Tracy) holding Dylan Lowe, and Ryan Lowe.  Dylan is the son of Carrie and Ryan and the grandson of Doris and Bob.

Left to right:  Brian LaFleur, Christine Mulheran (wife of Victoria Firefighter Michael Mulheran) with son Sullivan Mulheran, 21, and daughter Evelyn Mulheran, 3 1/1, then Courtney Anderson (wife of Victoria Firefighter Dusty Anderson), son Lucas Anderson, 16 months, then Landon LaFleur, 8.  Brian and Landon live in Plymouth.

The Victoria Fire Department always has great representation working at the Fishing Contest.  Left to right:  Firefighter Aaron Jurek, Angie Fenske (girl friend of Firefighter Jon Diethelm), Brenda Jurek (wife of Firefighter Aaron Jurek), Sarah Rivers (wife of Firefighter Ryan Rivers), Firefighter Jon Diethelm, and Firefighter Lisa Horgeshimer.

Like a pack mule, Marlin Krienke of Glencoe pulled all his gear — including coffee and minnow bucket — out to Stieger Lake inside a big black sled.

It’s fun on the lake at every turn, and it wouldn’t be the same without this annual group of funsters, all of whom are intimately related to Victoria, Minnesota, in one way or another.  Front kneeling (l-r):  Dave Beneke, Mike Wartman (Victoria Gazette Columnist), Paul Jesberg, Lori Jesberg (wife of Mark), Ryan Jirak.  Back:  Doug Raser, Tom Schrempp, Tom West, Jeff Chapman, Steve Jesberg, Chuck Weber, Randy Schneider, Mark Jesberg, Joe Braden.  Other funsters like Dale Carroll were on the lake but not in sight for the Kodak moment.

Patty Loge, daughter of Ron and Bonnie Fritz of Victoria, and her husband Gary Swiers of St. Bonifacius said hello and smiled for the camera.

Fish were weighed on a scale inside the red Eskimo tent which was weigh station headquarters.  Two Victoria firefighters checking things out were Jason Hukriede, left, and Jason Trout.

Victoria firefighters were everywhere on the lake.  Left to right:  Rick Leuthner, Jason Hukriede, Doug Jurek, Chief Andrew Heger, and Dave Shoger.  Chief Heger said current membership of the Victoria Fire Department is 33, including three new firefighters who began on February 1st.  “This has helped strengthen our response to incidents to ensure that someone is available to respond when called upon.  The addition of new firefighters is encouraging, since our roster was as low as 21 fighters in 2012,” he said.

The flag reveals a bit of wind chill.

This photo was taken from the second school bus that was on its way up the hill back to our car in the HEI parking lot.  Thank you, Victoria firefighters, for another great event.
