The Steeds of Stumpf by Tom Stumpf, Cowboy Correspondent.  “Many of you good readers out there may not be aware of how the ‘Cowboy Tom’ moniker became attached to these little monthly stories over, lo, these  20 years now.”

A Peek Inside Enki Brewing by Sue Orsen/The Victoria Gazette.  “It was sort of a pre-soft opening on June 21st, the first day of summer.  The Old Creamery in downtown Victoria was humming, not loudly but graciously.”

A Peek Inside Pierson Lake by Telly Mamayek, MCWD.  “Another carp harvest is underway at Pierson Lake.  Area residents have been putting in some long hours removing the invasive fish from the lake this year.”

New Public Facilities Long Overdue by Mayor Tom O’Connor, Victoria, MN.  “The city has announced plans to build a new City Hall in downtown on one of the two potential sites and a new Public Works facility on Bavaria Road.  Both are long overdue.”

Transportation Funding by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner.  “As the MN State Legislature worked through high profile issues, you may have missed some important changes to transportation funding and levy limits.”

Chamber’s Channel by Deb McMillan, SW Metro Chamber. “The Scholarship Committee of the SW Metro Chamber held its annual 5K for Education on June 1st.”

Improving Six Mile Creek by Bill Olson, MCWD.  “The Six Mile Creek system starts at Pierson Lake and flows 12 miles north through several lakes before entering Lake Minnetonka’s Hasted Bay.”

The Iwo Jima of Reports by Jim Paulsen, Real Estate Rapper.  “On its face, Victoria’s residential real estate market looks great.  From a year ago  May, new listings are up 73%.  Average sales prices are up 10% to $387,315.  Sales prices are up 98.4% of the original list price.”

Summer Sports Spring at Grandma Sue’s by Grandma Sue/The Victoria Gazette.  “Amelia and Sophia Orsen love to play in my little inflatable swimming pool.  The Olympics may be on their horizon.”

Elsie L. Menser, 96, passed away on June 8th.

Neighbors Respond to Boat Fire by Sue Orsen.  “We were out on Lake Minnetonka June 17th, leisurely cruising near the Excelsior shoreline, when I spooted a bar off in the distance, with a boat in tow, a larger cruiser half of which was burnt to a crisp.”

Neighbors Respond to Fire Alarm by Nan Emmer, Victoria, MN.  “On Friday night, June 7th, we came home to fire trucks, firefighters, and flashing lights, to discover that our neighbors saved our house from burning  down.”

Water and Oil by Sue Orsen.  “We picked up Mom and Dad about noon at their farm home near Ghent and took off for Tioga, North Dakota, for Gunnar’s First Communion.”
