GAZETTE

January 2011

To the Editor:

Enjoyed seeing pictures of your family in the December Gazette, and also your editorial on how to survive without electricity.  Hope you have a nice Christmas.

         Pillager, Minnesota

To the Editor:

Seeing that I missed the deadline for the December Gazette, I’m going to make sure I meet the deadline for the January issue!  As indicated in my previous note to you, please include the 50th birthday wishes to Bill along with his cute photo.  This time I’m also enclosing a photo taken over his birthday weekend that I’d like you to include in the “Your Very Own Victoria Moments” section.  Thanks, Sue.  Christmas blessings to you and your family.

To the Editor:

I want to send a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.  We are well with the addition of daughter Rebecca in September.  Our two sons, Tiago and Laourenco, are not concerned that Mafalda, Carlota, Anita, and Natacha have a numerical advantage.

As a large family we have been interviewed this year by TV stations and a national newspaper asking us how we save money.  In Portugal, the crisis has hit hard and they wanted us to give suggestions for other families.  We do not save money; we try not to spend money.

We are all well and sending a big hug to all.  Warm regards.

To the Editor:

I found a page of your online Victoria Gazette in the May 2005 edition where I really wanted to see the picture of the students in front of the school.  Many of my Diethelm, Poppler, and Notermann relatives are identified, but the picture does not show up on the screen anymore.  Is there some way to view this picture?  Is it available anywhere?  Thank you so much for your help.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Although my website is pretty inclusive, and has archives dating back to 2000, the entire issues of the Gazette are not online.  They can be found on microfiche since 1979 at the Carver County Historical Museum.

To the Editor:

As a local business owner, we would like to share a few words with the residents of Victoria.  The importance of “Being a Good Neighbor” is something that Floyd’s values and attempts to model in our community.  That being said, we have a “Good Neighbor” in Fresh Seasons.

From a business perspective, the importance of our “neighborhood” grocery store goes without saying.  Fresh Seasons Market is the anchor of our downtown and the catalyst to both business and real estate development in our community.  Its significance in that regard cannot be overstated.

Equally as important, Fresh Seasons is your neighbor.  The quality products, service with a smile, and willingness to go the extra mile are unsurpassed.  For years we all dreamt of having our own grocery store in the little town of Victoria.

So now we challenge each and every one of you to shop Fresh Seasons.  Make it your grocery destination of choice.  Try it.  You’ll like it.  I promise.  And then you can be a good neighbor, too!  To help spur you along, please see our ad in the Gazette.  We’re all in this together.

To the Editor:

I was saddened to see the inference to God as male in your last issue of the Gazette.  How sad when we limit our awesome God’s image.

         Judy Schindler

         Hector, Minnesota

EDITOR’S NOTE:  The image, the limit, and the language came from Christ Himself when He guided us to pray and say, “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name.”
