Feed the Birds ~ 2011

It was the first cool evening of the 2011 summer for us — Tuesday, September 13th — and we spent it on Lake Minnetonka, feeding ourselves and feeding the seagulls.  Barely another boat was in sight and that suits our fancy just fine.  That’s when we really feel as though we’ve slipped into another world for a while, sort of like those children in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe who found themselves in another world for a while, as described by C.S. Lewis.

Love, Sue

A highlight for me, no matter which side of the wardrobe claims me at the moment, is feeding the birds.  Seems a silly and simple thing, I know, and yet it gives me much delight.

Feed the birds, that’s what she cries,

While overhead, her birds fill the skies.

I am no Mary Poppins — although I can click up my heels pretty well — but I do hear the lyrics as swarms of seagulls drop from the sky to eat my popcorn.

Not only the seagulls ate my popcorn.
