Much Ado About Nothing by Tom Stumpf, Cowboy Correspondent. “There was a professional football game played in Minnesota a few weeks ago that had everyone hub-bubbing about what an historic event had occurred  Seems it was played outdoors, in January, and can you believe it?  The air was cold.  In Minnesota.  In January.  Hmmm.”

On Being Noble by Tom Abts, Deer Run Golf Pro. “This past week I saw the move ‘The revenant’ and read the book To America With Love by A.A. Gill.  This combination got me thinking about what it means to be noble and what that means in modern America.”

A Lot of Weather in Florida by Chuck Freiberg, Up North Cabin Guy. “I’m sitting at my computer telling myself I should think about shortening my stories.  Unfortunately, taking my own advice is hard, considering we just spent two weeks down in Pine Island, Florida.”

Award of Excellence by Ann Mahnke, Victoria Director of Parks and Public Works. “The City of Victoria’s Parks and Rec Department, specifically Holly Kaufhold, received an award for the Bike Konnect event.”

National Merit Recognition by Laura Podergois, HFCHS.  “Six Holy Family students received the recognition from a nationwide pool of semifinalists.”

Oldest Registered Hockey Player Pat Walquist, Victoria, MN. “Lee Walquist of Victoria is the oldest register hockey player, age 76, in the U.S. Pond Hockey Tournament at Lake Nokomis.”

Meet and Greet by Randy Miller, President VBA. “We hosted Dr. Scott Jensen, candidate for State Senate District 47.”

Carver County’s Year in Review by Commissioner Randy Maluchnik. “The new Hwy 101 river bridge and roundabout were opened.  The County Road 10 bridge in Watertown was completed.  Improvements were made to the Lake Minnewashta Regional Park.  The list continues.”

Check from the Victoria Lions by Lion Laura O’Neill. “The Victoria Lions presented a check for $2,500 to the Carver County Veterans Memorial and Registry organization.  The monument will be located in Mayer.”
