Love in a Dog’s World continued

Pam and Darren Whipp of Victoria love “everything” about their dogs  “They have nice temperaments and are gentle, but have very different personalities,” said Darren.  Marty, age 2, a Beagle mix held by Pam in the photo, is very timid, “probably because he is a rescue dog and did not have a very good puppy experience,” he said.  On the other hand, Chance, age 3, who is a purebred Beagle, is dominant and bossy.  “It’s fun to watch them and they have a lot of fun together,” said Darren.  The Whipps drive out to the Victoria Dog Park practically every day and spend about 45 minutes here on each visit.  “We love it,” said Darren.  “It’s the best dog park we’ve ever been to.  It’s very large and has a nice mix of trails and trees so our dogs can chase rabbits and birds.”  Pam, originally from Door County, Wisconsin, and Darren, originally from Ontario, Canada, moved to Victoria in July of 2010.  It was a job-related move.  Darren works for Cargill.

Alison George of Chanhassen loves Rylee, her Husky Shepherd who will be three years old in April.  “She’s a rescue dog and I picked her because of her personality,” said Ali.  “She was only 8 weeks old when I adopted her.  She’s really smart and she’s become my total companion.  Never thought I could love a dog so much.  She’s well behaved and responds to obedience.  She could have been a safety dog or a medical dog.  She makes friends all over the place.  She’s like the perfect package when it come to dogs.”  Ali only visits the Victoria Dog Park once a month.  “Other parks are closer to me, but coming to Victoria is a special treat.  We make a day out of it.  We go to the Victoria House for lunch or Floyd’s for their Weekender.  It’s such a cute location out here.  I tell a lot of my friends about Victoria.  I love this dog park.  I’ve been coming out here ever since I got Rylee.  There are a lot of other dogs out here and there’s a nice path on the perimeter and it’s beautiful by Stieger Lake.”
