FEBRUARY 11

At St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery

My brother Bernie said that the letter (partially in the picture above, also below) was written by Mom for her 50th class reunion.  Mom graduated f rom the Minneota High School in Minneota, MN, in 1945, so this page was written (typed) in 1995.  Mom already had her 14 grandchildren by then, and the great grandchildren were just beginning to arrive.  When Mom died on February 4th, 2019, she had 34 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

When the storm subsided, Dad and the boys and the funeral director became the pallbearers at the St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery at Ghent.  That’s Father Dennis Labat in the blue-gray parka.  I asked my sister Nancy to take some pictures for me.  I couldn’t get there with such short notice, and Dad wanted to get things done when the funeral home called.  The hole had already been dug, but it’s not visible in the pictures because a light snow had covered the tarp.  It was very cold, Dad said, but Bernie stayed to see the vault, with the casket inside, lifted into the hole with a big crane.
