Elvis on Tap in Victoria

Sounds like an old saw to say it was another perfect evening for a concert and classic car night, but the old saw retained its sharp and fine-toothed edge on Wednesday evening, July 25th.

Rain had threatened but umbrellas stayed under wrap, clouds dissipated, and many spectators donned dark glasses as the summer sun brightened the streets and patios of Victoria.

Every summer, Elvis draws the largest crowd of the concert season.

Bayfront Plaza, donated to the City of Victoria by the Hartmans, has become a popular gathering location between the classic cars and the bandstand — also between Stieger Lake and downtown Victoria.

Elvis is known to roam through the crowd and personally greet his fans.

Part way through the program, Elvis takes a break and returns with a new set of duds.

Here he croons with Joyce Burau of Victoria while her non-jealous husband Loane smiles for the editor’s camera.

When Elvis heard it was Jim Emmer’s and John Zirbes’ birthdays, he wanted a photo-op.  Thank you, Nan Emmer, for the photo.

Three’s a crowd, especially when it includes (l-r) Former Mayor Tom O’Connor, Lloyd Bridges (aka Jeff Hartman), and Former Mayor Mary Hershberger Thun.

Thank you, Elvis impersonator Chris Olson and Ann Mahnke, Victoria Director of Parks and Public Works, for bringing joy and camaraderie to the community.

Around 8 p.m., Elvis retreated into the sunset and so did the crowd at the Charlson Thun Community Bandstand.
