Doing the Lions Pavilion Floor

In March, after the dirt floor was graded, Matt Kaufhold and his crew with Michel Masonry placed the 2-inch foam insulation in the main expanse and down the hallway to the bathrooms.  The foam will be under the heated concrete floor to make sure the heat is forced up into the room.  Allan took all these pictures since he is on the job every day with the workers to answer questions.

Said Allan, “We had to stop the foam insulation in the hallway for a while, waiting on Xcel Energy to change out the electric service.  It took Xcel five months from our first request.”

Then Bob Leuthner and his crew with Victoria Plumbing placed the 5/8-inch Pex tubing, one-foot on center, that will heat the floor.  It came in thousand-foot rolls.  When all the Pex tubing was installed -- it took over 3,000 feet and was all laid in one day -- it was ready for the concrete.  The tubing system is divided into 12 zones.  Each zone can only be 300 feet in length.  After 300 feet the liquid in the system is too cold to transfer heat to the floor

Matt Kaufhold and his crew poured and placed the concrete via a concrete pump truck outside.  Matt also had assistance from Bugger Theis and Rudy Rudloff.   Half of the concrete floor was placed on Thursday, March 22nd.  First  the wood forms were placed at the doors and dividing the building in half.  Then they placed the concrete, leveled it, and troweled it.  The concrete crew, below, took a short break and included Billy Gothmann, Jerery (Bugger) Theis, Jeff Siegle (owner of Siegle Concrete Pumping), Matt Kaufhold (owner of Michel Masonry), Rudy Tony Rudloff, Ricky Rueals, and Jim Michel.  The second half of the concrete went down on Friday, March 23rd.
