Making Spirits Bright. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is brimming with merriment and wonder, all with a festive connection to nature -- amazing gingerbread houses, stately trees, stunning natural decorations, holiday musical entertainment -- in an unparalleled natural setting.  The Land of Gingerbread display is part of Making Spirits Bright, which continues through January 3rd.

All Conference Honors. Holy Family seniors Kaylah Hollen of Victoria, left, and Maddie Tompkins, center, were named All Conference soccer players for 2009.  Laura Wondra, right, was named All Conference Honorable Mention.  Sophomore Maggie Renfro of Victoria and Freshman Alexis Gannon of Victoria also received All Conference Honorable Mention Awards.  Holy Family finished the season with a record of 9-8-1.  The soccer team defeated South West Christian High School, Chaska, in the first round of section playoffs 8-0.  They lost to #1 ranked Benilde-St. Margaret’s, St. Louis Park, 3-0.  The girls posted some great wins against Chanhassen, Prior Lake, and Waconia.

Champions. The Chaska Chanhassen Hockey Association (CCHA, which includes Victoria and Carver) U10A girls’ hockey team (girls age 10 and under) recently took home the championship trophy from the Breezy Point Tournament after sweeping St. Cloud and Chisago, along with Princeton in a dual match-up. 

         It was an early season tournament, having practiced together for less than two weeks before heading to the northland.  The girls are looking forward to regular season play, which begins December 5th against Bloomington Kennedy.

Kids Against Hunger. On Saturday, November 14th, the Chanhassen Dance Team and their families participated in the 5th Annual Kids Against Hunger (KAH) West Metro Packathon.  Forty-one dancers and family members challenged each other to see how many meals they could package during their two-hour session and set an all-time record for the most meals packed by one group.  They packaged over 25,000 meals in just two hours.  Over 25,000 children from Haiti will get to eat a healthy meal because of everyone’s efforts.
