Christmas with Our Kids and Grandkids

Our grandchildren on Christmas Day (l-r):  Mia, Addie, Sophie, and Gunnar.

Jenny plays the piano every weekend at her church, St. Thomas in Tioga, North Dakota, as I did for 34 years here at St. Victoria.  Funny how that happens.

Sophie played Jingle Bells for us.

It started with two-fers when daughter Jenny and I would get the same jammie pants and we’d wear them when we were at each other’s home.  It gave the guys something to talk about.  Then it turned into three-fers when I got Allan and son Nick and son-in-law Chris matching shirts or slippers or jammie pants.  This year, for the first time, all ten of us were part of the game because my grandchildren are not babies anymore.  Mia will have to grow into hers.

Jenny gave moose jammie pants to the men in her life:  Dad, brother, son, husband.

I was ready for them.  After making lists, shopping, wrapping, cooking, and entertaining others, I was ready for my kids and grandkids to arrive.

We were glad that Nick and his kids could join us.  The recliner chairs are so comfortable we practically fell asleep before the movie started.

When everybody is gone, I walk around the house alone and hardly know what to do with myself.   Thank you, Jenny and Nick and families, for your many thoughtful gifts and flowers.

Love, Your Mama

It’s always hard to say goodbye — first when Nick and family leaves, then when Jenny and family leaves.

Mia practiced dancing like my Santa dances.

The next day we went to Eden Prairie Center to see The Grinch.
