Bob and Clarone’s Funeral Day

We attended the funeral Mass and Memorial Service for my Aunt Clarone [Opdahl] and her husband Bob Williams at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Minneota, MN, on Saturday, June 23rd.  They lived most of their married life in Half Moon Bay, California.

Their son Max, center, brought the cremains of his parents home for burial at the St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent, MN.  Max’s family includes his wife Laura and their children Sarah and Justin.

Max placed the cremains of his parents in a spot prepared for them.

Thank you, Char Opdahl, for emailing me your photos, below, most from the luncheon in the church basement after the funeral.

This is Char’s youngest son DJ Opdahl and his family.  Char and my Uncle Dan, deceased, had three sons.  I am the oldest of my 29 first cousins on my mother’s side and DJ is the youngest.

Max and his family — son Justin, wife Laura, and daughter Sarah.

Kathy and Joe Opdahl are two siblings in a family of eight kids.  Their dad was the late Harold Jr, and their mother Sandy is now in Boulder Creek Assisted Living in Marshall in a room right next to my mother’s.

Some of my Drown cousins (l-r):  Cindy (in black), Christopher (sport coat), and Anita (pink) and their spouses.  Their mother was my Aunt Sharlene, my mom’s youngest sister.  Their dad Bill is also in Assisted Living in Marshall.

My Uncle Mike Opdahl and his wife Norma live in Spicer, MN.

That’s Melissa with the short hair (daughter of Mike and Norma) and her husband and their daughter Laura and Laura’s husband and daughter.

That’s my cousin Judy [Opdahl] and her husband Greg Novotony.

My youngest brother Paul Claeys and his wife Sharon live in Marshall.

My sister Barb, left, lives in Prior Lake, and my brother Bernie and his wife Margene live on a farm near Ghent.

Allan and I have lived in Victoria, Minnesota, for more than 47 years.

After the funeral, Char stopped by to see Mom and Dad and took this picture.

I spent most of my time with Mom and Dad.  The place was full of family visiting all afternoon and I took the rest of these pictures.  That’s two of my Drown cousins — Mary and Anita on the left and my sister Nancy on the right.

I’d say that the highlight of Mom’s day was when her brother Mike stopped by.  Mom and Mike are the only two left of seven siblings.  Mom is the oldest.  Mike, my uncle, is the second youngest.

Jim Opdahl is one of Junior and Sandy’s eight children.  My mother is his “Aunt Bet.”  And that would be his Uncle Mike.

Mary hugged her Aunt Bet before she left to visit her Aunt Sandy.

My Uncle Junior and Aunt Sandy Opdahl had five sons.  Here are two of them, Joe on the left and Rob on the right.

My dad helped identify some people in a photograph album.

This is my Aunt Sandy and her three daughters — Kathy, Judy, and Ann.

It was fun to see Sandy and her kids and their spouses, some in this picture.
