A Reunion with Baby Nora

A grand reunion was held in the Victoria City Council Chambers the evening of March 7th, 2016.

Those invited to the reunion were instrumental in the birth of Nora Jane Campion, who was delivered into the hands of Victoria Firefighter Jason Hukriede on Wednesday, February 10th.

The Campions were on their way with contractions to the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia but didn’t make it in time.

As Fire Chief Andrew Heger called out names of firefighters, officers, and dispatchers involved in the successful delivery at the Victoria Fire Station, each received a stork pin and individual thank you’s from Rhonda and Dustin Campion.

Said Rhonda, “Because of all of you, we have a safe and happy and healthy little girl.”  Said Dustin,  “We saw the baby’s head crowning and I’ll never forget the look on Jason’s face.”

Chief Heger told the long story.  The short story is that firefighters moved a truck out of the Station, laid the mother on the floor, got blankets and towels, and a baby girl was born right there at 9:03 a.m.  By 9:26 mother and daughter were in the ambulance leaving for the hospital.

Stated Mayor Tom O’Connor, “We’re thrilled it was a happy ending.  Our congratulations to you.  These are the best we offer, these people in blue uniforms and white shirts.  Thank you for what you do.”
